I worked there and was there when we closed on February 3rd 2018 I was also one of the employees that stayed after closing to transfer products out to other targets. We played football inside when we got bored of packing and boxing all the products that was left
Right next door of the abandoned space would've been a former Famous Footwear. Such a beauty look on the inside. I'm surprised they didn't board up the entrance which is good.
I used to shop Target but on Boughton Rd. Haven't been over there in years. One of my sons worked for a construction co. that remodeled them. He went all over the country doing that for a living. Thanks for the video. 🤗
In Kenosha, there is a similar plaza like this. But it has Target, JCPenney, Dollar Tree, PetSmart, Maurice’s, Sally Beauty Supply, America Best, and some stuff. And I lied, this plaza I said is actually in Pleasant Prairie, but it is not the Premium Outlets. And this video is posted on my birthday (February 15)
Well, I did a couple in the south suburbs and theres at least 2 more in Chicago which I don't think I'll get to because of where they're at. Yeah it is rare, but this was built too close to existing ones.
@@mallaholicretailadventures I don't get that either- like for instance they have one in Belleville that's literally 5 or 6 miles away from one in Fairview Heights, and both are on the exact same road too! Topping it off, there's a 3rd one in Shiloh less than 10 miles from these other two! Somehow they all survive though, but 3 Target stores less than 10 miles from each other is a bit much! I think losing both Kmart's (Fairview Heights, and Belleville) may play a role in them surviving that close to each other since now it's just Target, Target, Target, or Target (well, there is a Super Wally World on the east side of Belleville, but that's getting away from the Fairview/Belleville area)!
@@DalmationProductions I'm honestly not too happy with them putting a store less than a mile from the existing Kmart store in Belleville. That's the Westfield Plaza (existing Kmart), Belleville Crossing (new Target) video that I did last year. I mean when they're that close to each other, you know they're going to compete with each other. That's just too close in my opinion.
Target does have a handful, but generally, they're doing quite well- they're still under 2,000 total stores, a number Kmart reached in less than 20 years. However, that slow growth has set them up better than Kmart, which is why there aren't nearly as many abandoned Target stores as Kmart stores. Nice job on the video too!
They’re turning it a senior place or something along those lines, I’m in that area like 4 days out of the week and I always wanted to go inside, cool cool place
I am thinking that this one was too close to the Joliet location. And this was probably one of those that was built prior to the 2008 recession. Yeah it is a mystery on why they just randomly close some of these
Saturation. This too close to other ones. Plus the population growth never materialized. Also in other target videos, they were located on bad neighborhoods.

what up bro haha I left about 6 months before they closed
This looks like it would have been a nice Target to visit! Target usually has nice stores.
Rest in peace target romeovllie.

Rare to see target closed

You're welcome. Not everyday you see an empty Target building.
@@mallaholicretailadventures No personally I don't like them but that is just me. Nothing personal !

@@jackson5116 I don't hate Target I just hate to see it abandoned

Agreed, much more successful than kmart overall.
The building next to the target was a famous footwear that closed way back in 2010

Thank you. Yeah. I see why it closed. I don't see a lot of residential in the area, and too close to the Joliet mall area.
This target looks very modern, don’t understand why they would close it..

I still can’t believed this Target closed. It closed sometime in 2017 I think.
I used to go there all the time and there was a Starbucks inside!
Cool. Yeah I use that as a joke because my friend works in a Starbucks inside of a target. She gets a kick out of it.
do you remember uncle lou who used to sit inside that Starbucks in target everyday from 5-7pm with his sunglasses on!? RIP uncle lou!
Used to work at that target.
What is with abandoned Targets out that way? That I know of, there's None in Wyoming nor Northern Colorado

@@mallaholicretailadventures Makes sense. Definitely can't blame them for leaving bad areas.
There’s a Walmart directly across the street, it maybe partly responsible. I used to live right across the street !
if the target is old enough build it will have blocked off garden center but stiltl there
Closed in February 3 at 2018
it looks like 2000's ara target didnt get the latest remodel, that prob got cl;osed because of low sales and theif
It was a brand new store. It was there like than like 10 years
They are papered now
