The song is based on child marriage a practice that continues to live on.
Earlier part of the song mostly describes the child, her being decorated as a bride, her innocence, her hopes and dreams. And then she's married off to a new home, without any regards to how she feels, what she has dreamt and hoped in life. And down goes any hopes of her being anything more than a bride, daughter in law and possibly a mom.
