    Craziest battery clamp design I've ever seen. I'm trying to tighten my grand daughters positive terminal clamp. Now I know what to do...thanks!

    Amazon has these with the exact same part number and appearance (good close up pix and reviews) for $15 . This video was great as I will soon be changing the battery on my Hyundai and it will be great to know exactly how they work.

    My 2016 Elantra GT has this same piece the adjustment bolt is tight but the terminal still twists loose around the battery resulting in failed starts/clicking at times, but according to hyundai's oem parts site it will not fit my vehicle and suggested the entire assembly (cables, housing etc all like $500+) I call BS on Hyundai and ordered this same part off amazon and going to attempt to change it. Though I may look for these shims you mentioned earlier on first. Thanks

    I'm trying to do the same thing as the Veloster on a 2015 Hyundai Accent, the postive terminal, they look exactly the same, but I can't figure out how to remove the back piece to free the 2 connectors so I can slide the terminal in, no twist ties and it seems to be all one piece. Am I missing something in removing or getting those 2 connectors out of the way? A better video of that would have helped. Please help with any suggestions. I can't drive my Accent until I fix this.... thanks in advance.

      well, actually, this one component is used in over 230 different vehicles. While I am sure that there are some other different housing brackets, this one was in a 2015 Hyundai Veloster turbo. it did not have additional hardware attached.

    My elantra 2016 has this piece very loose and rusty and my mechanic said thats what is giving my transmission problems, my car starts i can put it on reverse and it goes but it dont go forward on drive, it doesnt sound bad either and it takes the over drive and i also never had transmission problems, could that be it?

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While it may seem counter intuitive, it actually does make sense. Electrical systems have a lot of nuances. Increased resistance might not affect less delicate systems, like the starter. But computer circuits are more sensitive to fluctuations. These are not too difficult to replace, and will make the vehicle more reliable.

    Hi Alex, does this hyundai positive terminal case design serve as an overload current protection as well?

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for explaining how this abomination works. Had to replace a battery on a Town and Country this morning, and the positive just wouldn't get snug enough. I thought I was doing something wrong, cause I've never run into a terminal like this. Guess I'm gonna have to try a shim, the positive post is just a tad too small.

    I mean it's just a way to make a simple part complex in the name of manufacturing efficiency I'd guess. On my 2008 elantra it went loose & started causing electrical trouble. Found a decent universal terminal that is acceptable, but a properly designed aftermarket part would be nice.

    • @AlexPlatacis
      @AlexPlatacis  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree. Not to mention it appears to be designed to break, as this design is counter intuitive.
      If its loose, tighten it. Nope! In this case, it will break
