I would prefer the Mage. My personal opinion is that if I'm paying a crazy high price for any knife it better be able to withstand being used, because I would certainly use it!
I went for the Mage. The Enchanter is beautiful but too fancy for me to enjoy carrying it. I have a Custom Knife Shop 112 from Buck that has a mirror polished blade, a beautiful knife! I find myself not carrying it all that much because of the effect that touching it has on the mirror finish. I find myself wiping it off constantly and mostly just admiring it instead of using it. The Mage will go in my pocket. Thanks for sharing!
I haven't watched far enough to know the price...BUT when I see something made of super super shiny metal, my brain goes strait to gas station check out counter..it's attractive if your thing was Elvis suits or Liberace piano..
Why do they even put a pocket clip on it? Its never gonna be in anyone's pocket. I'm kinda torn on a knife like that. Is anyone ever gonna even cut things with that knife? Wouldn't it kind of be like having a trophy wife that doesn't put out?
1) It's a pocket knife so it has a pocket clip. Pocket clips give makers another place on a knife to show off the quality of their work. 2) No. It's almost certain that this knife will not be used to cut anything more than paper and, in fact, it wasn't really designed to be used. It's best considered a piece of art rather than a knife. Of course it's sharp and has great action, however, these types of knives are all about the aesthetics - the look, the feel, the attention to detail. 3) Yes. It is ALMOST like a trophy wife that doesn't put out EXCEPT when you buy this knife you know full-well in advance that this knife ain't going to put out and you'll spend most of your time just looking at it. I agree price range has skyrocketed and if you pay close attention to what you see, they are not that great. Buck used to sell priced goods that every body was proud to own, but their quality has been lost in the pricey market. Every body and their brother want a piece of it. But the truth is, the best has been lost. The trust of the buyer.

Ever since then I'm very mindful of someone else has my knife and that mindfulness increases depending on the value of the knife. People who are not nice people will borrow your knife and then just set it down somewhere open and forget it.
Saw the gloves coming out & I knew it was going to be either a beautiful knife or a rectal exam. Thankfully it was a knife. Forget the naysayers. This is a piece of art like most high-end blades are & should be judged/respected as such. Artisan are clearly looking to push themselves up a notch on the premium ladder and if this is the result then they're on the right track. Yes it's over the top & yes it's expensive but just remember folks - no one is making you buy it. Thanks for showing. Sharp blades all.

Day 50000 of people not understanding that luxury products exist and that not everyone buying them actually thinks the price or aesthetics = performance. It blows my mind people are still so closed minded and judging about this stuff. Almost everyone has a hobby where they’ve arguably spent more on it than is “justified”. Not that hobbies need to be justified in the beginning…..
