The duel Kaya Arm system may be the solution I've been looking for. However, my kayak is a 20 foot Sea Valley Rapier and is about 20 inches wide. It weighs 54 pounds with no cargo. If I'm using it for overnight camping, the total weight could be over 125 pounds. Can the Kaya Arm duel system handle that kind of weight? Sometimes my dock is 4.5 feet above the waterline so it's next to impossible to lower and enter the kayak keeping in mind that the Rapier 20 is classified as a racing kayak and therefore very tippy but not as tippy as my Olympic K-1. Please advise. This would be for tidal water.

      Joey,
Thanks for your question. While we have not tested your specific kayak I expect the KayaArm will work well with your kayak. I'm not concerned about the weight, however it will be very important to ensure that the KayaArm is installed such that it is plumb and you will need to use a level to confirm it. Some folks find it difficult to grip the chaim to raise/lower heavy loads like yours (125lbs) but we have a design for a simple jig to make it easier. Please see our FAQ's at www.KayaArm.com. We have a video of woman lifting a 125 lb load that includes two 20 USG pails of water using the jig. th-cam.com/video/qBlXKUd38Hs/w-d-xo.html
The only concern I have with your application is the height from the top of the dock to the top of the water. The KayaArm out of the box is drilled to accomodate 30" from top of dock to top of water and can be modified to accomodate 42" from top of water to top of dock. (again see out FAQ's we have a link to a video that shows how to modify the KayaArm and it is pretty easy).

For a longer distance we have had customers purchase a second mast and cut it in half and splice the masts together using a 4"x4" as a backing for the masts to align and support the masts at the splice. We have customers with a 6' drop from top of dock to top of water who use this solution. if you have any further questions we are most easily reached through our website www.KayaArm.com using "contact us" feature.
      Happy paddling

@@rwirsig1 Thanks for the input Jay. Give me some time to view the videos and to analyze different options. I'll be moving to Florida sometime within the next 6 weeks and I'll have a better assessment when I get there. The 6 foot extension may be the best option.
