Yes... Very well said. I remember being a kid, jamming to this, now I'm 33 I still find this as my comforting song whenever I feel tired of everything.. And yes, thank you Dan 👍
Dan Wilson, thank you so much for this beautiful rendition of what is in my opinion one of the greatest pieces of American music. When I was a little girl I remember riding in the car with my Dad while we both sang along as this song played on the radio. When I was in college, I learned of the song’s deeper meaning and it made those moments all the more special. This past June, my Father and I danced to it at my wedding. My Dad heard the opening and we cried happy tears the entire way through the song. Thank you for making an acoustic version. It is beautiful and I’m sure it has touched more lives than you know! ❤
This song was released when I was pregnant with my son. Even then, I more associated it with the closing of chapters. It's always been his song. Following all the chapters of his life. He managed a radio station for a while, DJ'd, etc. Frequently this was his sign off. He just got married.
If you didn’t know about the origins of the song: Dan Wilson's girlfriend was pregnant at the time and although Wilson did not set out consciously to write a song about giving birth, he has stated that "Part way into the writing of the song, I realized it was also about being born."
Didn't know this song was dedicated to his daughter...thanks Dan for the memories of a time when airwaves was filled with really good underrated bands...
A time when we as Americans didn’t hate each other. Now we have lost our way in the world. I fear the great American dream is dead. Music, movies and all entertainment has lost its soul. I’m glad I grew up in a time where songs like this meant something.
I can still remember 5 years ago when I was still in college. Before we go to class, we're always drunk. But before we leave the bar, we always play this beautiful song in the karaoke. Now we're professionals and some of us have a family, we still haven't change a bit in our taste of music. Getting old is inevitable, but because of this song, it brings us to those good old days. Thanks Dan!
I love the timbre of Dan's voice. Between his pipes, musicianship and song writing skills it confuses me why people who purchased 'Strangely Fine' didn't stay connected to the band. Thanks Dan for sharing your talents with everyone.
Simply awesome, ageless. In 1999 i was 15 years old and i said "Wow, this songs is wonderful!". Today i'm 36, and i still continue to think the same. Brillant voice. Thank you Dan! :)
My wife and I recently became empty-nesters, sending the last of our kids off to college. This song took on a whole new meaning for us, and we are covering it in our coffeehouse/bar set.
This used to be on my favorite song playlist during time out after off duty because I always choose to be at closing time shift in my work at Carrefour Abu Dhabi. And I will always play it loud on my cellphone w/ earphones. It brings back all the good memories during my time of off duty at work heading to our flat while riding in our company shuttle bus service .😹😹😹 while thinking my family back in the Philippines.😣😢
Remains so calm with perfect timing of each breath, tho, I really don’t want to ask him how many times he’s played this song haha. I’d be making avant-garde jazz versions of this by now if I were him.
I have to say, all the times I heard this song, it never occurred to me what it was about. Once it was pointed out, it is absolutely brilliant. Everything is there, it's just so subtly underplayed you don't even spot the actual context. Had this been the only song you'd ever written, you would have nothing to be ashamed of.
Dan's songs tend to start out sparse and then hit you with these amazing and subtle arrangements that are just so tasteful and artistic that it's almost hard to bear. Not many people can do that with songs...
I sang this the whole way through labour with my daughter, almost 21 years after I first heard it. It got me through the pain and now when I hear it I am filled with joy all over again. .. Such a special song 💗 Thanks for sharing your gift🌹
Probably one of the best session videos on TH-cam... Dan's music and performances improve with age. I'm sitting at my mixing board with the autographed sheet music to the song in a frame on the console, though!
I hear this song when I was 12 years old, and until now im 30 years old and still this is one of my favourite song, "evere new beginning comes from some other beginning's end".
Wow. Amazing. Those sitting there must be having the time of their life. Love you, Respect and adore you Dan Wilson for so so many wonderful and meaningful songs and lyrics that brought people close together.
Check out this guy on Comedy Bang Bang, he’s such a good guy with a great sense of humor, now have a new level of appreciation for his music. I was single-ish in the 90’s and this song reminds of great epic late nights and very lonely late nights, both. Great decade
I love this song too! I'm trying to find the book about their rock n roll star life. I read about it in the San Jose Mercury News years ago but haven't got it yet.
my 1 year old and i listen to this song from time to time and as soon as i play this song he just freezes and listens quietly and just wont move or say anything until the song ends! i think he likes it!
And after all these years, this song is still as gorgeous as the first time I heard it. Thank you, Dan!
Could not have said it better
Moonrise Blue beautiful version
I love this beautiful song always.
... and the boys! But yeah, Dan is the man!
Yes... Very well said. I remember being a kid, jamming to this, now I'm 33 I still find this as my comforting song whenever I feel tired of everything.. And yes, thank you Dan 👍
Was a teenager when this came around, never paid much attention to it, was always playing on vh1. Now it hits me like a punch.
This man does not age! His voice got even more nuanced and he looks as young as ever! I'm slightly jealous.

He just got married.
I thought he'd been married since the 1980s. Is this a second marriage which you're referencing?
@@suzannegoode1557 He could’ve written it decades before 🤷🏻♂️

that must have been in the fall of 1993
@@claytonbrown7120 maybe not decades, but something like that
He voice ages as wine. Timeless
No cigs

Funny. Getting older, which probably means kids. The irony!
Great version of this song. Love the tempo and acoustic feel.
This song, all these years later, still reverberates against the shores of the Land Down Under. A timeless piece of song writing.

A song that colors my youth.
It's great to listen to now.
You're a legend and the same goes for this song.
My wife and I recently became empty-nesters, sending the last of our kids off to college. This song took on a whole new meaning for us, and we are covering it in our coffeehouse/bar set.
I love this song 😍 it never gets boring, it has power 💪💪💪 I am happy that there are songs like this.
It still captures everything I had in my heart as a teenager, I am lucky that I ended up with my teenage dream
What a masterpiece! The good old days. Take me back! Thanks for this lovely song!

Song reminds me of all my friends and I, the summer we got our drivers licences. It was really, really great being 16.

I'm amazed to learn that he wrote Adele's Someone like You.He's a prolific writer. This song is one of my all time fave💙
