I know exactly where this is. You start by crossing west over what is now the CSX River Line after a train goes north, go through Cornell Street Yard, and venture onto what is now the Kingston side of the Catskill Mountain Railroad, formerly the NYC's Catskill Mountain Branch. You can ride the last portion under the two bridges in present day on the CMRR. Very cool!
Some of those homes are still there on Albany and Ora Pl.

A Biograph film made in 1906 from the front of locomotive. I'll bet the cameraman was G.W. "Billy" Bitzer. He was DW Griffith's chief cameraman and a pioneer in the early days of movies. He also made a film from the front of "chase train" in April, 1905, shortly after the IRT opened in 1904.
