  • In this Episode I'll be exploring the abandoned Eloise Psychiatric Hospital.
    Walking through these creepy halls of Eloise was definitely an experience. You can tell how much history the building has, each turn reveals another chunk. Lights flickering and power humming is just a few of the creepy things you can experience walking through this terrifying abandoned asylum.

    I would have edited most of the sound out. I mean for the first few minutes that fire alarm made for an eerie effect. Any longer it just becomes highly annoying. Otherwise creepy good video. Keep'em coming.

    I remember this building.
    At that time it was a regular hospital in 1969 because my baby was born there at 7:54 AM.
    At time in 1969 all the inner hospitals in Detroit were full in the emergency rooms and no one could not take me in while I was in labor.
    I was only 17 years old back them and when I was in that hospital I remember as if it was yesterday. Very, very bad vibes in that place and I felt very scared.
    Even doctors and nurses looked like something out of a scary movie. I was glad to get back home.
    But I hated that hospital for real. 😥😥😥

    Great video. I grew up in the area. My best friend worked midnight at Eloise on the 3rd floor. They had to keep the lights off. They just used a small light. If a patient needs to go to the ER or morgue, she and her coworkers transferred them via the underground tunnel to the General Hospital. It wasn't uncommon to have homeless people keep warm and dry there.

      I agree with you. I grew up not far from Eloise. My doctor's practiced in the specialty buildings and we went to the General hospital. I am heartbroken they only kept the one building. So much history that they were a self contained city. Eloise wasn't just for the mentally ill, but seniors, disabled and low income. The residents worked. Whether it was the gardens, lands, kitchens, buildings or laborers. It gets them healthy and productive.

    I'm from Inkster, I explored here in middle school, the buildings that have been long gone...not a lot left now. It was the city of Eloise in it's origin. My friend was born in the hospital there!!

  • @ToosieJoie1
    @ToosieJoie1 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was born in 1963 in Nankin Mills later named Westland. I was fortunate to see many of the buildings being used or still standing. At first, it was a place of refuge and help. It did turn was it was state run and there have been many horror stories. I just wished they left some history because Eloise was it's own city. So much history. A couple museums would have been nice.

    My mother was born here when it was a hospital. She was born in 1972. I honestly would love to explore Eloise...but it should just be left at peace. Back in the day, it was like its own little town. I drive by it all the time and it makes me think of my mom. And sometimes i wonder what it would be like if it was still up and running. I wonder what she would think of it if she could see it today. If only there was a way to be there without getting fined for tresspassing.

    My great grandfather worked in Eloise, he worked there for a few years as secretary, but on occasion, he would go into the various wards where people where held, he told my grandfather all kinds of terrible stories of patients attacking him, people constantly asking him for help, he actually lost a part of his ear when a patient snuck behind him at his desk and bit it off... Not a nice place back in the day👍

    I grew up in Dearborn Heights Mi. My Dad was a meat cutter at the commissary at Eloise. Eloise was an incredibly huge complex. A thru J buildings. Each "lettered" building was three to four stories tall. All built in a "U" shape configuration. In the Summer time, I would go with my Mom to pick Dad up from work. At that time, the late 50's, early 60's, the entire complex was ensconced in a 14 foot iron fence complete with the pointed spikes at the top of each spire. The "patients" were allowed to walk the grounds within the complex. They were all wearing the long "tie in the back" white hospital gowns. Many of them would be utilizing the huge wooden swings large enough to accompany 4 patients. The image that was seared into my brain was watching many of these poor unfortunate people screaming, crying and talking to imaginary people. It really stuck with me. At least these poor unfortunate folks who had no family, had refuge. Now, the leftest democratic "elected officials" deem our most populated areas, "sanctuary cities" so the illegal aliens and the mentally ill can roam free. Sorry for getting political but hey, I guess its easier to let Americas down trodden to be left dying in the streets. Hell yea its easier! Especially when the last sorry excuse for a Pres. wanted to give Iran, a country who wants to kill every man, woman, and child in this country 150 BILLION DOLLARS.

      And how exactly you want to "hunt" these "ghosts" ?
      You do know, that the soul travels on after death, and doesn't stay down here, even more at some very spots? That doesn't mean some kind of energy can be left maybe, but it would be interesting, if you could explain deeper and more precisely about your experiences there (in general) and the topic.

      The entire complex is condemned and has been sold. One condition of the sale is that all remaining buildings will be torn down. As for ghost hunting or exploring of any kind, if you get caught on the property without permission they consider it trespassing and they are pretty harsh about it - there are patrolling security guards as well as Westland Police.

    Did they say in operation since the early 1800’s?
    No.
    It was opened in either 1894 or 1897.

      Klergy it began operation in 1832 as a poor house and farm and developed into more over the years. It wasn’t officially named Eloise until 1894, but it’d been operating since 1832

  • @nonnobissolum
    @nonnobissolum 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And what, exactly, makes it "creepy" and "terrifying?" Other than one's own state of mind, suggestions of others, or the unnecessarily manipulative (and laughable) background music? The *real* history of the place is fascinating enough. Decent footage (and appreciated), but why not go for quality and substance instead of silly cheap hype? Signed....someone who knows a thing or two about the place....
