I'm so glad you are still able to spin with your special spinning bowl. I find that breaking a piece of pottery that I’ve used and loved for a long time feels like losing a dear friend. Thanks for your information about the sheep breeds you are spinning. I think you are keeping alive everything and everyone from the past who valued and used the wool these sheep provide. I hope you are finding time in your busy season to enjoy some February spinning. harpingJanet

I love your videos!!! I am so sorry you were not well. Glad you are feeling better. I am trying to keep up with the 100 days of spindle spinning but I have so many other projects (knitting and quilting) that I forget some days. Just do what brings me joy each day. I am so impressed with your plying on the spindle. I had a friend ask me to show them but I’ve not done it yet. BTW, your colorwork cardigan is gorgeous!
This the first time that I have heard the amount of singles on your spindle as a 'bird's nest', I've always heard it called 'cop'. I have done several shawls, hats, and mittens with my spindle spun yarn. I'm currently working on 2 sweaters being made from my wheel spun (hand-spun) yarn. I will probably make a colour-work sweater with my spindle spun yarn in the future.

possible topics!? so far i have loved seeing u spin, dye and knit. love all your content. glad to hear u are better by now with your illness. Do u have everything u ever wanted in the world of spinning? or sewing. i want an electric spinner. what do u wish to have that u dont already have?? just curious. maybe talk on that? i love watching u spin and talk to us.
I think it's really nice that your usual sheep are just there to graze. Like, even when it's not about profit, we're still part of the same ecosystem, you know? (Also I'm so glad the bowl is okay, it's heartbreaking when beloved things break)
In my city there's two flocks that graze, one for the nature reserve, and one just for grassy borders, and I love that the city has decided to use sheep instead of industrial lawnmowers.
I am also doing the spindle challenge. I missed three days each in December and January. I am doing pygora goat fiber on a supported spindle. It's such a short staple it works well with the support spindle. As much as we look forward to your chaos videos weekly is a lot of work for one channel let alone two. Maybe monthly is easier so you don't burn out.
Finally watched this. You published it when i was behind the great firewall of China. Actually traveling in Tibet. So i used your video to experiment with my new tibetan yak fibers i got. (yes I have fibers from ladakhi and tibetan yaks now, yes they are a different breed) I failed completely on the challenge but am happy to see you strive. Have a great day
I didn’t know about this! What a great idea…. maybe next year they will do it again? Or maybe I can just do this myself altho more fun in a crowd :-) New subscriber! Really like your “vibe” 😁
A 4 euro wool skirt find is the best! My favorite pants that i wear all winter are wool pants that i got secondhand for 15 euros and new they would have been 200-300 euro new as well
I'm the weirdo that's looking at the tags in the thriftstore and needs to surpress a shriek whenever it says 100% wool, or in this case 100% schurwolle. 😁
This is so inspiring! I don't have the time to do a challenge like this bc I work full time and committed all my spare time to a different big project, but this series of yours makes me want to start spinning when that project is done. One idea for things to talk about in future videos are your dream projects--things you would make if you had infinite time/resources/skills?
Your videos are fab! Thank you for making them. I have a question: how do you/do you clean your combs and carders? Also, do you prefer spinning cleaned floof or floof in the grease? What have you found to be the differences/pros/cons of each way? 😊
Yeah pretty much never. It gets cold enough in winter but it is very dry in winter. Snow has fallen in my city 3 times in my life, once when I was about 8 we got a few cm and it collected on the ground. The other times it was a few flurries of flakes that only lasted minutes.
How do u join the skein ends when u are knitting?? thank u. i love your precious self friend. so cute and so much fun. i am an old great granny. i enjoy your hubby and u and your content. love spinning. love my drop spindles more than my spinning wheel but i am getting it with the spinning wheel. thank u for your fun channel.
Today is 10 Feb and we JUST took our Christmas tree down! 😂❤ No judgement about yours still being up on 9 Jan! Do you have a bulky flyer on your Ashford Traditional?!? I think I need one too now!
I checked, unfortunately neither the Flemish Sheep nor the Belgian Milk Sheep are in the Fleece and Fibre sourcebook :( Very glad to see your spinning bowl still spins smoothly! Your supported spindle also looks very cool, where did you get it? (I've been trying to find a European seller of supported spindles that are not completely out of budget and also actually in stock for a good while now..) Please take it easy in February! I'd rather not have a video than have one with the knowledge that you are a stressed out, burnt out Jente!
How dare they. Is there even any Belgian breed in there? Kempisch heideschaap, mergellandschaap, entre sambre et meuse?? I got my spindle from Something Else by Else Marie on a fair, but don't think she has them on her webshop. It is a struggle to find them with European sellers indeed...
You have spun infinitely more with spindles in January than I have. Also in December. Your illness in early January makes me realise how lucky those of us in the tropics are - we just don't get battered by influenza viruses in winter to the extent that you do. (Yeah, we do get some mosquito borne stuff, particularly in the wet season and that's no fun, and the cyclones in the wet season aren't any fun, either but that's another story.) If you're looking for topics, I enjoy a good rant/discussion of a topic that catches your interest. As a "for instance", take a saying that has gained a certain amount of popularity, such as "people get the governments they deserve" (or "people get the governments they tolerate" - there's a variety of versions) and then shred it. Obviously, only do this if the topic interests you or gets you hot under the collar or whatever. Your chaos goblin chatter worked just fine.
@@MijnWolden: Choose your (least) favourite! I had a bit of a written rant on the topic in regard to a video that was about the parlous state of life for LGBTQ+ people in Russia. One of the comments in one thread was "people get the government they tolerate." I replied that that makes a lot of assumptions, like that there are actual fair and free elections that aren't gerrymandered, and that voters aren't suppressed. It assumes that there is an actual choice, not just the Shit Party and the Shit Lite Party. It assumes that the media are able and willing to give voters accurate information about the candidates and parties on offer. It assumes that the media aren't censored. All of that is just for starters. All too often I don't think voters actually have good choices and so I don't think that the citizens of a country can be blamed for the state it is in, given that there are so many things that make it difficult for citizens to get changes for the better.
