A certain level of confidence will be your first layer of self-defence. You are less likely to be targeted if you act just confident enough. Take it too far and become cocky, and you'll be in danger. Situational awareness is important. You'll have to pick your fights carefully. Not worth getting stabbed over your Gopro and some change. Especially when moving in narrow streets and alleys, always be mindful of the exits and dead-ends. Don't get drunk and walk alone in these places, don't be distracted by your phone etc. If you get lost, try to make your way back to a more public area before checking Maps.

He went for the paintbrush/Americana sub several times but he's doing it wrong, he tries to twist the shoulder by pushing forward when in fact he simply needs to pull his hand towards the hips, like Jones did to Vitor Belfort in round 4.
Dude what he did there is known as Brazilian jiu-jitsu which is absolutely worthless as soon as a third person enters the fight coz you're completely defenseless when you're trying to grapple your opponent. For street fighting, striking is better since you can 1vmultiple and try KO people 1 at a time as fast as possible.

Well, I know why Kurt is so confidence on the dangerous neighborhoods, he has charisma and make easy to everyone to trust in him, and if the situation become hard, he is JUJITSU brown Belt!!
He showed good basic technique which most high belts use all the time. Does he say somewhere that he is a brown belt?
@@phgraves01 I think hes guessing, but with how smoothly he performed those techniques while under the affects of alcohol - i wouldn't be surprised if he was one of the higher belts.

I suspected he had some MMA background, since I watch him in a Perú video mentioning UFC and Nate Diaz. To walk in the way he does in those streets you must be really confident and definitely fighting skill helps a lot when it comes to confident. Anyway I think is a little risky to do what he does, so I admire him and enjoy his amazing videos. keep it up kurt...
being able to fight doesn't help if you're looking into an AK47 or are confronted with 6 gang members with knives. Pretty much useless or even a false sense of security in those places if you ask me.

I recently stumbled into your video's Kurt. I am not from any of the countries you have visited. I'm from El Salvador(don't recommend going there at all!) But I really enjoy seeing you give the countries a chance to see the the good that there is vs the tourist side or just the dangerous side. There is always beauty in every country one visits. He went for the paintbrush/Americana sub several times but he's doing it wrong, he tries to twist the shoulder by pushing forward when in fact he simply needs to pull his hand towards the hips, like Jones did to Vitor Belfort in round 4.

Dude what he did there is known as Brazilian jiu-jitsu which is absolutely worthless as soon as a third person enters the fight coz you're completely defenseless when you're trying to grapple your opponent. For street fighting, striking is better since you can 1vmultiple and try KO people 1 at a time as fast as possible.
