  • A fabulous dive-safari to the Red Sea with some great people, and aboard what must be one of the best liveaboards in the Red Sea, Ghazala Explorer. In 6 days we made 22 dives, including Salem Express (With a night-dive on Salem Express!), Thistlegorm, Rosalie Moller, Giannis D and lots more.
    Video shot on a DJI Osmo Action 4.

    Amazing video Mike :) Can you tell me about your video setup? I see in the description, that you are shooting a DJI- do you have it on a tray with a lighting system?? I am having a hard time choosing between the DJI and the Insta360- both are very crisp! Greetings to you from Canada :)

      @justintrooper6039 Thanks for the kind words, I thinkI've a lot to learn yet! My camera tray is home-made and I use a pair of Archon D11V lights on flexible arms, also home-modified from CNC coolant hose. Take a look at my old SJ 4000 review and there's a shot of it toward the start of the video. I've not tried the Insta, but I do like the DJI, with some reservations in green water, there's more detail on my first Action 4 review from a year ago. My only trip to Canada was to Bell Island on Newfoundland, which had the most amazing visibility.

      @@mikeward736 you are welcome in Canada anytime! I am in the early stages of planning a Red Sea diving trip. I have dived all around the globe- just not there! So- it is time :) I have subscribed to your channel and I certainly look forward to all your video (s) and information sharing- thank you! I think I am sold on the DJI Action 5- however, I am still enjoying the journey down the rabbit hole of comparison videos on TH-cam lol. Safe dives brother....

      @justintrooper6039 Good luck with your choice of camera. I work with Scuba Travel in the UK, who work with Ghazala Explorer in the Red Sea, she's sold direct on liveaboard.com and is an excellent choice for a Red Sea trip. She does various Red Sea itineraries based from Hurghada, and if you like your wrecks I've three trips on her in 2025 and 2026. She'll probably be shown as fully booked for 'my' weeks, but if you're interested drop me a reply and I'll let you have the dates and then have a word with the boat owner.

    11:34. Without a better camera angle, I would say truck tyres and a gearbox housing.

    • @mikeward736
      @mikeward736  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could be, but there are no holes in the flanges either end of them, so it doesn't seem like they mounted to anything

    • @billsmith6884
      @billsmith6884 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mikeward736 Yeah, the angle doesn't allow for a lot of information. The smaller end definitely has a flange, the growth would have long ago covered any holes. The small rise at the middle of the large end looks like a PTO. Having said that, if sat upright on the small end, it also looks like a ships toilet; with the rise being the fitting for the flush water pipe.

      @billsmith6884 Thanks for that, my dive-buddy Neil is an ex-motor vehicle mechanic who has worked with some exotic machinery and he's the one who pointed out the lack of bolt- holes. Next time out I'll spend some more time with these and see if I can get some measurements and close-ups. FYI there are over sixty of them, which suggests they were needed in numbers, and there seem to be two variants, differing in the end construction.
