    Mam,I hope you are doing great.
    I must say you make your videos really interesting with your wonderful sense of humour.
    I was wondering Mam,how do you when it's time to water rosemary next ?
    coz they get black leaves easily
    I'm referring to a long plastic Plantar which has multiple drain holes and plenty of pumice rocks in the soil for drainage.

    • @SmartGirlGardening

      Thank you! Unfortunately rosemary can be a little fickle. For rosemary plants there isn't an exact time to water them. You have to use your hands feel the soil to see if it needs water. What has worked for me is to water when the soil has dried out or when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Also you may need to gently check the roots to see if they are damaged or not. I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

      I'm grateful for the reply and appreciate your efforts.
      I feel the next best time to check the root system is during next repot /when rootbound.

    Wonderful video, but i have some questions: 1) Does your potting soil contain peat moss? 2) Can you use Coco peat as a potting soil instead? 3) If not, would a miracle gro potting soil mix in the USA work in its place? 4) Will beach sand work for the mixing or what sand are you using? and 5) How much do you water this plant? Thanks.

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. I hope these answers help.
      1. Yes the potting mix I use has peat moss.
      2. Yes you can use some coco peat, just remember that it holds water.
      3. I haven't tested miracle so I'm not sure.
      4. I use a sand mix for cactus/succulents.

    Who much should I water my 8 inch tall rosemary plant this is my 4th rosemary plant they always die😬

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh wow... I've had the same issue with rosemary too. Check the soil, once it have completely dried out then you can water it. So I may be once a week or every two days just check the soil first. If the soil is still then it doesn't need water. If possible you can try to water it in the early morning and not the evening, since rosemary doesn't like sitting in water. I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

    What's wrong with my rosemary the leaves turning yellow..??tnx for the tips

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're are several ureasons why your rosemary leaves are turning yellow. Most revolve around the soil if it's in a pot.
      1. Check if it's root bound, if it is re-pot into a larger container.
      2. Check the watering. Too much water or a poor/ slow draining soil can be the reason.
      3. If there's excess nitrogen in the soil, you may need to change to fresh soil.
      Often times the rosemary just wanted to be left alone. Let me know if this helps.

  • @joshuacheong109

    Thanks for sharing your tips. You soaked the root ball in water before repotting the rosemary plant. Do you still water the soil immediately after putting the plant into the pot? Can pumice or gravel be used instead of sand?

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for watching. I'm happy the videos has helped you in some way. To answer your questions, yes you still water the soil thoroughly. I soaked the roots to ensure that they would be fully hydrated. You can also moisten the soil before placing the rosemary in it. Pumice is a great addition to the soil and should work well once they aren't too large. Let us know how it goes!

    Sis today I repotted my rosemary plant ... I found my roots are reduced than I bought from my nursery... can you pls help what should I do to save my plant roots...

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you cut away the diseased portion of the roots? If you improve the soil drainage, you can cut back on the watering frequency. Try to bottom water if you can it'll help the roots to grow downwards in search of the water. Also if possible prune the dead/dried leaves and branches this will help to promote new growth. If you aren't sure how to prun it back I have video describing how to prune it. Let me know if this helps.

    Rosemary plant leaves tips getting brown ... what to do?

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Browning leaves can be caused by constant / too much moisture which can cause the roots to rot. You may need to check the moisture level and the roots, then if needed re-pot into fresh well draining soil. Plus prune it back to promote new growth.

    I bought rosemary from nursery yesterday . It started turning brown and started wilting. What to do

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It could be going into from the change in the growing environment. Is it just the tips of the leaves turning brown or the whole stem? Have you done anything different to the plant after bringing it home? As a preemptive measure you can check the roots and soil for any kind of rot or damage.

    • @elena537743
      @elena537743 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SmartGirlGardening the whole stem is browning. When I bought the plant it's very dry and drooping. I have reported it and kept it under sun because I have accidentally over watered it.

    • @SmartGirlGardening
      @SmartGirlGardening  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@elena537743 ah, I'm so sorry! .... Unfortunately you may just have to wait and see. Since the plant was "stressed" before you got it, and it's already been repotted, you can only give it some time to see if it will survive or not. You can try to put it in partial shade for a few days to help reduce the stress of the direct sunlight.
