The man himself :D good seeing more people admiring your hard work too ^^ you've got some awesome videos on handwiring, I've used them too to build my sick68 ^^ never got it working, but that was my own fault haha, keep up the good work!
There's a fantastic tool from the 1950's called a wire wrap tool. Still used to this day, it makes it super easy to create arrays of wiring without any soldering.
Look man, i know you’re one if the craziest keyboard youtubers out there, but I didn’t expect THIS at all. As always phenomenal video quality and pure chaos!
This was hilarious and informative, enjoyed watching your very relatable journey. Joe Scotto's videos are pretty awesome indeed, and I'm very impressed you compiled your own firmware. I hope you stick to it if only just to see more of these.
@@lukevanlukevan My first time learning QMK was fun and frustrating. I bought a custom keyboard (hope75) and they didn't release the source code. I had to reverse engineer everything to make the source code for it. Took me 2 days to get it working, but the victory was oh so sweet. And now I can tap dance on my keyboard.
Hand-wiring is awesome! Years ago I hand-wired a crkbd and used it for a little while, fully working. I did have to frankenstein the firmware and it's a hassle to change the layouts because of that :D
i'm building an analog keyboard thing rn, and i might have bought digital hall effect sensors so now i have a fancy rbg box that doesn't do shit, well it has a free spinning osu logo with a magnetic encoder for EPIC FIDGET SPINNER ACTION (and changing the volumke of shit)
Garbage man is probably gonna think a kid tried to make their own keyboard when they see a cardboard box with letters scribbled on it in the recycling bin lmao
A good soldering iron certanly helps but I get pretty shiny solder joints with a simple 5 euros no temperature adjustable soldering iron i think that you should practice making solder joints its also pretto funny
honestly i thought it was really expensive at first but the fact that you get features only available in $10000+ printers, i thought it was affordable :D

Thanks for having me! So hyped more attention is coming to handwiring and think Box 3 is gonna be even better 👀

Box 3 is the coffin Squashy Boy will be buried in. RIP Squashy
I recently handwired my first build and you helped me flash the chip with one of your videos. Thx Joe!!
Thank you Joe

not having a typing test is criminal
i might have forgot that, now that you mentioned it...
@@SquashyBoy You didn't show it connected to your computer either! You need a part 2 to this!!
@@SquashyBoy you can show it with box mark 3. And south facing led.

I think that hand wiring is a way to keep the hobby fun forever, because you can actually make whatever silliness you desire
I hand wired and soldered a full keyboard with per-key diodes out of 6mm tact switches with 1.5mm spacing. Made a dope wired USB thumb board.

Nice video, i am currently building an custom keyboard, i couldnt imagine the pain of hand wiring.
Not that bad tbh. Quite fun when you realize you can create anything you want
@@lukevanlukevan If you get QMK down, it ain't bad
@@JitsKamps 100%. Again, to most, that’s half the fun. It’s a hobby, so it’s not for everyone but it can be super fun

Don’t learn the last thing you said cuz tbh, it wasn’t as bad to make one, especially with a new 3D printer, you did good 👍
you can wire switches to individual io ports by using io expanders and more microcontrollers
