Plum-headed Parakeets @ Maredumilli - East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh

These parakeets are peeling off the bark of what seems to be a Eucalyptus tree to get at the sap - I'm not sure why they are doing this; I checked if the sap was sugary - it is not.
What is also puzzling is that all parakeets here are males - I did not see a single female in this group. I wonder what's going on....

@wondersf Yes very much so - but they make noise only when they want to - otherwise they are really silent - and with their plumage and slow deliberate movements, they are impossible to see from far
