Songs like this are why I still listen to country music sometimes. The harmonies alone and the way they bend the words around the notes. It's gorgeous. ETA: You have to do a reaction to their collaboration with Sugarland on "Life in a Northern Town." Harmony overdose and it is worth it.
@@Flushot22 you obviously have no idea what country music is. This is bro/pop country that rich f-boys in their dads trucks can get drunk and sing along to. It's like saying pearl jam is heavy metal 🙄 george srait is real country for example. Not this poppy b.s
Saw Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton and George Strait this past June. Can’t even tell you how awesome the whole night was!!! Everyone brought it that night. We were in the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte and I felt like they were all singing to me!! Worth every penny I spent
The blonde, Kimberly, Schlapman, is from the small town where I live in Northeast Georgia. Many people know her and her family and are HUGE fans. One Sunday, about 13 years ago, not long after this song came out, our church opened up the microphone to anybody who wanted to come up and sing their favorite song. Many people participated and sang their favorite hymns. At one point a young boy, probably about nine years old, got up to sing his favorite song. It was beyond precious when he opened his mouth and started singing Boondocks. ❤️🎵🎶😂 Also, Kimberly has a line of kitchen products called Oh Gussie. I’m not sure where all she sells them, but you can definitely pick them up at Cracker Barrel.
This song was their first big hit. My wife got to know them when they first started, and still to this day they recognize her and will come up to ask how she is doing. Such wonderful people and very humble.
This is a great anthem of rural America. I've been all over the world, and have lived in many places across the country, both urban and rural. But first and foremost I'm from the boondocks myself. I noted that you're from NY. I'm from the western end of NY State where you have to travel an hour and a half just to go to an Olive Garden. It's real country out here. I love your reactions and your eclectic openness and appreciation for so many musical genres. By the way, a great follow up to this is "Old Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers.
🤠🤠🤠🤠🔥🔥🔥🎼🔥🔥🔥🤠🤠🤠🤠 .. oh hell yeahhhhhh ....yes yes yes Miss Britt !! This is pure talent .. pure Country Music magic .. thanks for cheering up my morning!! Luvvvvv 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
This is one of the first songs i remember really converting me to being a country music fan. Grew up with my pops listening to nothing but country. Took a while to grow on me but this... This was so good. Still is. Absolute fire
I was born and raised in the boondocks! I went to a one room school where I was the only third grader! 😂😂 On Saturday night we would drive out to the dump to watch the bears going through the garbage 😂😂. Big excitement 😂👵🏼💜☮️
I grew up in the boondocks 😊 please listen to their songs Pontoon and Whiskey, Beer, Wine. Those are such fun songs. Also Better man and Tornado are great and more serious songs. ☮️
I agree with the comment below, Sugarland/Jake Owen/Little Big Town covering Dream Academy's Life in a Northern Town is worth checking out. So many voices.
I absolutely love Home Free cover of boondocks! I was raised in the boondocks of the north west US, but love living in the city so this song is really fun.
Used to listen to that one on my way to work ... Leaving my peaceful rural home to get to my job in the city, and hating every second of that drive lol
Kimberly is also my fav aesthetically, plus from interviews she is just the sweetest person on the planet. If you want a song that she sings lead on I’d recommend “sober” ❤
Grew up exactly like this. Our grade school was in the middle of nowhere and the mascot was Polecats, The Jasper Polecats. If that's not boondock-y, nothing is. LOL The video is very much how it was in high school. We would have to wet down the dirt so it wouldn't kick up so much dust.
Love this song and it's message and the music, truly what a pleasure and delight, yes iam proud of where iam from, it truly made me who I am and I love myself and how I turned out, I can see the good and bad and ugly of where I am from and say iam proud of where I am from 🙏🙏🙏 yeah I remember captain planet, it was a cartoon, wasn't on long but it dealt with a lot of environmental problems and was basically saying if we all work together, we could clean, restore, and protect our planet like it is our home and the other home we have, that is floating in the void of space 🙏🙏🙏
I love this song. I saw them way before they were a "thing." They sang Boondocks then and I and the crowd went wild. The end when its all about the fishing whole I lose my mind. Me and my teenage daughter would try to song the end and crack ourselves up because to women don't make 4 part harmony. Every time they sing it is a joy and this song just celebrates their beginnings. So glad you decided to review. Also, as usual, you make it fun and you are so insightful!!
I LOVE Little Big Town. Got to see them live in Australia & by far one of my fav concerts their harmonies are beyond 🔥 Check out "Sober" or "Beat Up Bible" Kimberly (the blonde) sings lead on those songs and they're 2 of my fav LBT song's.. ❤
Sitting here in the actual boondocks listening to this. 150-acre crawfish and rice farm down miles of gravel road a half hour from civilization. Born and raised.
since you fan crush on this stuff too.... the hair, the makeup, the nails, and that shirt that electrified the color of the reaction..home run!!! ps: one of my fav little big town songs
Love love this song I grew up in a town of about two hundred people in British Columbia Canada we had to take a bus in high school to another town all of our teachers teased us that we lived in the boondocks we did have a muddy river and the trains were constant it’s what I went to sleep with the clack clack of the trains we all had tin roof’s because we got a ton of snow in the winter I fell no shame and yes my heart and soul is in the boondocks
About not having heard Kimberly (the blonde) soloing -- her part is sort of like that of Graham Nash as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. It's rarely heard alone, but the high harmony that's essential in their four-part ensemble. In concert, Kimberly does have a couple lead numbers. But the real value of her voice is on that roof-top harmony part.
not sure where to request someone, here you go...KT Oslin, amazing lady that has passed on....songs, 80's Ladies, Hold Me, Do Ya, just a few of her not to be missed songs....songwriter, musician, talent...
They have awesome voices! A few other greats if you do want to check out are Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, and then here's a band that is not as popular, Gloriana. They don't have as many hits so if you do go down this road, I recommend 'wild at heart ' and 'how far do you wanna go'. Happy listening:)
Prepare to dive down an excellent rabbit hole with Little Big Town. They have a great catalog of music. For more recent hits check out Rich Man or Day Drinking. From their earlier years check out the combination of their song “Lost” with Coldplay’s “Fix You”. Definite tear jerker.
Girl I'm a middle aged white girl that lives on a 150 acre farm.. I love the Boondocks... lol and our 1/4 mile driveway.. that is gravel is off a dang dirt road.. And I hate it... want to get rid of that dirt road so that my car is just a dust bucket all the time.
First of all. I finally subscribed to you!!! Second....I think I know of a video you might like. It's a compilation of Sugarland, Jake Owen and Little Big Town covering 'Life in a Northern Town". It's a cover of the song from the 80's by Dream Academy. Keep up the good work on your content
If you want to hear Kimberly (the blonde girl) solo, check out the song “Stay” by Little Big Town… if you want to hear more of Philip (the blonde guy) taking a lead, check out “Bring It On Home” by Little Big Town
A little off topic but I think you should listen to "Old Brown Shoe" by The Beatles. My favorite lyrics from it are, "I want a love that's right, but right is only half of what's wrong. I want a short haired girl who sometimes wears it twice as long....."
Point of order: Trees mean you’re “in the sticks”. The boondocks are the backwoods. Seeing trees isn’t enough, the road needs to be a two track with grass growing up in the middle.
Songs like this are why I still listen to country music sometimes. The harmonies alone and the way they bend the words around the notes. It's gorgeous.
