  • Mount Rainier National Park is a must-see for anyone in the Pacific Northwest! This video takes you on a day hike, with some wildlife sightings and an epic sunrise. While we were in the park we spent 1 day on the Sunrise side of Mt. Rainier and 1 day on the Paradise side of Mt. Rainier. Our trip was incredible as we got to see the last day of summer plus the first day of fall with very different weather for each day of our time there. If you love the great outdoors, Mt. Rainier is a MUST! If you're driving from Seattle to Mount Rainier, it's a short day trip to reach the Mount Rainier Sunrise visitor center. It's a bit longer to reach the Paradise side of Mt. Rainier, but not too bad and well worth the trip if you can afford the extra time!
Depending on how long you have in Mt. Rainier we'd recommend catching an epic sunrise, going for a hike (or two or three!), camping in Mount Rainier, and just taking your time enjoying all that this incredible park has to offer!

I was at the Paradise side in August. Within an hour of our first hike we saw deer, grouse, loads of chipmunks, and a black bear. The next day we added marmots and pikas.
The first 2 days were cloudy and beautiful. The second 2 were sunny and beautiful 😁

Beautiful, great documentary, my favorite mountain, climbed Mt Rainier several times. Btw, it's only a few feet lower than Mt. Whitney however it's the tallest mountain, most prominent in Continental US. And In the top 20 of tallest mountains in the World! I believe it's one place higher on list in prominence than K2 which is second highest mountain in World!

Beautiful video! My hubby and I were hiking in the Adirondacks, and while on the trail a chipmunk stood on a rock and squealed at us on his hind legs. It made us stop in our tracks. Then about fifty yard ahead of a us a black bear walked across the trail. We think the little guy was warning us of the bear.

Thanks for sharing your visit to Mount Rainier! I used to visit the mountain all the time when I lived in Tacoma and Seattle back in the late 1960’s’. During the wintertime we would take our sleds and go sledding in the early afternoons. I’m sure a lot has changed in the past 50 + years but she still looks so regal against the blue skies!

You're making me wanna travel out west again!
I will say when y'all are back in Chattanooga if you're trying to scratch that climb a mountain in solitude itch to head to Big Frog Mountain about an hour east of town. If you start at the trailhead on FS 221 it's about 11 mile round-trip to the summit. Views are limited in the summer but pretty open come winter and I've never seen more than 2-4 people on that trail. Highest mountain nearest to Nooga as well. Well worth the hike! Can't wait to see your next adventure!

@@chrisandsara Spray Park or Tolmie Peak out of Mowich Lake? Oh yeah. Carbon River has its charms as well (old growth forest, abandoned mine entrance, a couple readily accessible waterfalls); plus, you can bike the (gravel, washed out in some placed) road up to Ipsut Creek and then hike from there, which puts Yellowstone Cliffs or the toe of the Carbon glacier within comfortable day-hiking range.

My son and I hike for two days at Mount Rainier National Park on September 6th and 7th. Super dry conditions. There was no Wildlife anywhere to be seen. It was kind of strange. my son said that we see more wildlife in our backyard back in Wisconsin. I was a bit baffled. Very few Birds, insects and no mammals at all.
