As someone in the auto repair field, it was nice of him to let you record this. I personally hate it when the customer wants to shadow and ask 1000 questions while I'm trying to do my job.
I rather though it was cool...

I also work in the Auto Glass Industry and there are so many things wrong with this install. He didn't clean OR prime the pinchweld for scratches, I'm hoping he was using a primerless urethane because I didn't see him prime the glass either, not removing the cowl & wipers, setting the glass by himself, and setting tools on the Customer's vehicle. This is the type of installation that drives reputable glass shops, that do things properly, crazy. What's even worse is it may not even be his fault. You have to be TRAINED CORRECTLY before you can do the job correctly. Often times, proper training takes a back seat to the need/want of the glass shop to do a larger quantity of replacements a day. I think I heard him say he did 10-15 Windshields a day? That's a red flag and a sure sign of inferior, unsafe, and unprofessional installs.
Primerless urethane I thought it would be a primer urethane but good tip
I've never seen two people install a windshield. Is that standard at your place of business to send two people out for a window replacement? Just curious as I'm getting one soon.

Replace a windshield in 10 minutes, means you can steal one in 5 . Lock you windshield. they are easy to steal..

Yes sir, me too. Usually when I was troubleshooting a circuit (T-1) and some irritating customer is asking how long it's going to be down. Or "what's the problem with it?" ...if I knew that, I wouldn't be here, would I?? 🤣
This a VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF A VERY BAD INSTALL. NO PRIMER NOR ON THE BODY OR GLASS.UNLESS THE UNRATHANE IS PRIMELESS.
Nobody likes having a customer shadow them while doing their job....especially while being recorded with a 🎥 ..... But much respect for the installer for showing respect and courtesy 💯
Ironically, the trickiest part can be removing the mirror unless you're a pro. It was a matter of inserting a micro screwdriver in a little hole with just enough force while sliding the base off. I changed it to a mirror that uses a hex bolt to lock it down instead of a locking tab.

Bought a car it needed a windshield, auto and glass shop I brought it to homed and hawed about doing the job bcuz of a small rust hole at the top of windshield. So my friend and I did it ourselves. What a night mare getting it out and cleaning the channel for new glass. Never again, I'll let the pros do it next time. Took us just about all day this guy did it in 10 minutes.
Tools and know how goes s long way. My hat is off to this guy. Awesome job.

No he isn't, he didn't use any of the chemicals for the glue to stick to the glass properly. I know I have seen windshields replaced almost every day of my life. This is not how you do it.

I seen it in the movies where you get 2 people and both kick the windshield out at the same time. It seems a lot easier then this

Scuttling a windscreen eg removing and installing windscreen without removing wipers or panels under glass should never be done half assed job.
In my Dad's shop posted: "Job costs $100/hr. IF you watch $150. IF you help $200. I'd add IF you ask 20 questions $250

Anyone that has time to do 10 to 15 jobs a day is definitely cutting corners hence not taking off the panels... this is not how to do the job properly.

Hope your vehicle doesn't rust because he didn't use any primer where he scratched the pinchweld when trimming off the old urethane. And always remove the cowl. Good luck.
I have worked with many installers over 12 years and the ones that don't remove the wipers and cowl are the installers I end up having warranty related problems with. I agree you should always remove the wipers and cowl.

Bummer, I was waiting to see how the rubber moulding is re-installed, if it's snapped or hammered back into place with a rubber mallet.

The reciprocating saw is expensive, using a long knife is the old cheap way (if you're doing this yourself) - Cutting old urethane is harder than it looks on here, do not bend glass !

i´m a glass installer in portugal and i don´t use that technique to cut the glass.i use a cut wire.
I use the same technique in Ghana too

This windshield is probably very unsafe, and leaks. I have seen windshields installed properly my entire life, he is not a professional. The fact that he can put a windshield in, in 10 minutes shows how unprofessional he is.

Well we did exactly what the installer wanted so I guess there’s that and he’s got a lot of business from it so I guess there’s that too so I guess the only dumb ass here is you
This is how the industry gets a bad name. Would have taken me 30 min but would have been done perfectly. U428 is made by dow and is cheap urethane (not a bad choice just not the best) and has a 4hr dry time. Doesnt dry quickly.

428 sealant is a primerless glue. Maybe do some research first!?
U-428 Primerless Urethane is primerless to glass not the pinchweld. You need to prime the pinchweld for bonding and rust prevention.

I have a 06 impala and the front windshield was beat with a bat or something anyway. I want to replace it I have a parts car with good windshield any suggestions would be appreciated

As I replace windscreens for a living ,
A, he never put primer on the car or glass.
B, he didn't close the gap between the bond on the car ( body ) where it joined.
C, he smudged all the bond when he put the windscreen in the car it's meant to lay flat on the bond not slide in.
Very unprofessional job extremely fast means can't be ass'ed guarantee you if you took that windscreen out there will be rust EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to be so brutal but if you don't car about human life you should never change a windscreen.

I payed just over 300 dollars for the cheapest but professional job and it took them just over 2 hours.
Advise was cut glass cane out adhesive scraped off and cleaned up the surface for primer then the clue new glass put in and cleaned. Then they told me they let it sit for an hour before taking it outside so the glue could set and told me not to wash the car until next day. Install was fast but set time was an hour and I appreciated them for doing that to make sure it was all set and good to go. My car is old and I just needed a non cracked window so I went for the cheap package that was just glass install no warranty or any of the other things they offered just wanted the glass replaced.
This is a Very easy job to do if u have the right tools the shops charge crazy prices for this shit the windshields can be bought really cheap if u look around.

Wow he missed your car up i've been doing glass for 39 years that Cowl has to come off your wipers has to come off he did not prime your vehicle so it is subjected to rest away show your insurance agent this video and have a professional do it hopefully your vehicle is not that bad but it probably is he did a horrible job so sorry to have to tell you this.
been doing auto glass for 32 years, total hack job, no pinch weld primer, didnt even wipe dust off'pinchweld, didn't glue the moulding to the glass, tools on car, water bottle in seat, when he was cutting the bottom using his Equalizer you can hear the blade hitting the car, each hit exposes bare metal and with no primer the owner of this Lexus now owns a future rust bucket!
Don’t have to take that cal panel off ...the bead is running a good bit over the cal easy to set I agree tho no primer or even dust it off
no dash protection or hood protection, and all the above stated is true
