Great cinematography! The F-5 and the F/A-18 look great. Meiringen is one of the highlights of my life, having gone there in 2019 for work. Thanks for the pictures and the memories.
It felt kind of weird watching that F-5 target tow drop it's drag chute on the runway. I worked Phantoms back in the 80s and they would turn about 45 degrees on a taxiway and goose the throttle a touch. The drag chutes would drift off the taxiway and end up in a pile off the taxiway.
@@chaviationvideos2602 Yeah I saw that and I get the Swiss have different ways of doing things. Just in the USAF, we wouldn't dream of dropping a FOD hazard on an active runway or even worse putting personnel on it during recovery ops.
Great Video!! Thank you for the superb work! But i.m.o. there is something terribly wrong with the sound editing, cutting or adjustment (do not know how its called). For example at 5:00. There is one of those small parts, when there is absolute silence. Such editing might be done on purpose but I think it will not give you any feeling of the true sound of those jets. I think, when you can hear some nature sounds like birds, or a bit wind or even other noise from the airport, you get a better feeling for it. Nevertheless, this is just complaining at a high level!
Thank you very much for your detailed comment. Indeed there is many problems with sound because I had to delete the music that was on the video due to copyrights. I'm just starting on TH-cam and I was not aware of all these rules. I will soon publish the same video with sound corrections. If you want to be notified when it comes out feel free to subscribe to my channel 😉. Thanks again for your nice comment!

@@vinceeent8093 okay let me ask it differently: why did they buy the F/A-18? They are always neutral, in every conflict. Why did they spend this amount of money on the 18?
@@thealtchemist.x Because we needed new fighter aircraft at one point an the F/A-18 won the selection. The aircraft wasn't exceptionally expensive for what it is. Beeing neutral doesn't mean you can't have an Army or Airforce. We aren't pacificsts.
@@thealtchemist.x Even neutral countries are at risk of hostile attack, so the Swiss do the same as every country on the planet and make provisions to defend their realm. The terrain makes it very difficult to invade the country by land, so the greatest threat is from the air. The air force is therefore by far the most important component of their armed forces. The air force chose the F-18 mostly because of its multi-role capabilities.

Utterly stunning video. Incredible production values and laser-sharp images. Thank you for posting.
Very best from New Zealand.

This is one of the best looking fighters ever....
That seems a very short tow-rope when live rounds are flicking about!
They must have a very high level of confidence in their pilots
During the firing the cable is unrolled and the target is 3km away from the towing plane.
@@chaviationvideos2602 Phew! Glad to know there’s plenty of room up there…

There is a person on the ground to recover the drag chute directly after the release. You can see it in the video.

How many versions of F-5 are there
Wait... how does that shute arresting system works?
Something is wrong with the audio in this footage, keeps cycling/fading in and out.

Where'd the Swiss find the money to buy F/A-18's?
Switzerland is one of the richest Countries on Earth what do you mean?

Btw: the F/A-18's are at the end of their service life and will be replaced soon by F-35A's
