That is what l love so much among many things in my mother country Sweet Zerland. In other countries, air bases are most of the time kept far away from public reach and eyes. In Switzerland, the people is the army and the army is the people. This means that our authorities trust their people and conversely. That’s absolutely precious and priceless.
@@Julian13o11 In other countries the State would buy off private land, or some leftist/green ideologists would block the entrance of the military base while consuming their drugs bought from violent cartels and islamic terrorists.
I was there in the spring and loved it. You can use the base canteen and go up onto the roof for great views. The squadron shop sells hats, t shirts and patches. Staff are very friendly too.
Was part of this back in the "old" days when they flew "Hunters" and DH "Venom's" .. the Mirage was also part of the fleet back in the 80's .. great memories of my service days
What a stunning location, looking forward to your footage of the Air Displays .Quite surreal the gentle tinkling of a cow bell and then the roar of the F-18,s.👍
What great scenery and perhaps one of the most exciting crossings we can ever hope to encounter in our road travels. For the timebeing I'll have to make do with stopping to allow passage of the 13.40 London Waterloo to Portsmouth, with not quite a spectcular scenic backdrop.
I never went out from the Iberian Peninsula but I already been on a much larger version of this crossing from Spain to Gibraltar. It is a very funny sensation.
It is not fuel. It is bleed air being blown behind the heat exchanger which forces cool air across the front of the heat exchanger, this is only happens on the ground. The left side of the aircraft has a secondary heat exchanger that is also cooled by a water spray nozzle. The water is created by the ECS taking bleed air and cooling it. The water is blown out by the bleed air so you can see it more on one side than the other.
To put in perspective the size of Switzerland If a fighter puts its after burner to pass Mach 1 he will be out of Switzerland when he reaches it😂. So they train in other countries
Jets reach mach-speeds on a regular basis inside of switzerland for air police duties. This sparks countless news articles every time it happens because people want to know what the bang was. There where even some windows shattered. Switzerland is plenty big enough to reach sonic speeds.
Suggestion for a better title: the military base where we have to stop the jets! It's an insanity: burning the most precious energy source, burning too much money, and polluting the Alps with noise. A luxury which is obsolete.

Der Grund ist, weil nicht genügend Platz da ist.

Yes it's great! And long may it last
When those afterburners light up... man, that's a thing of pure beauty.
Worth going for the scenery alone, Switzerland is stunning, nicely caught 📸
Totally agree!
We drove through here a few years ago with no idea what it was until we had to stop for the jets! Amazing spot.
I love the way the old Hornet fit together , the shape of it , especially those cute rounded inlets - just beautiful !
I agree!
Much nicer than the ugly to me F-35
@@Laurent-Raggos yes I feel the same.
That’s gotta be the coolest sound I ever heard - the sound of jets taking off.

What an awesome video, loved every second, thankyou.
I was a weapons maintenance / mechanic sergeant on that base 16-17 years ago… Good times…
Cool 👌

Now for some Swiss fondue and local beer! Aaahhh....
Military airbase Emmen/Switzerland is the same. There it has also two public roads over the runway!
and Payern too
@@Racingwespe that was "home"during my RS back in a lifetime ago ..
what a beautiful fighter plane, thank you so much for this video.

Years ago I was driving the vehicle lane at Upper Heyford and an F-111 came the other way. For a brief moment I thought I was on the taxiway. Pheeew.
🤣🤣
Wow, what a beautiful place to watch jets up close! ❤
It really is! 👌

Are you going to AXALP? I hear it’s a good 18km walk??
I'm there 😇 it's a bus up to Axalp then a 10min cable car and then 1 hour walk up
Great videos !!!
Glad you like them!
Incredible video.
Thank you very much!
Amazing scenery and close up jets! nothing better :)
Couldn't agree more!👌
Great job , buddy !!!.... thanks !!!!! 😃🤩👋👋👍👍👍👍👍🤘🤘!!!!!!
Thank you too!
There was one similar in Heidelberg Germany, too.
In Switzerland, the State is for the people and people consider themselves as active stakeholders of the State.
Cold 🥶
we used to work there
Cool
Small correction.. it appears to me this is the taxiway on the way to the rumway, not the runway itself...
Switzerland is an aircraft carrier.
Tbh this gave me a giggle but loved it Elwyn. You always do post some awesome footage of the fighter jets 👏 😊
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Is that fuel being dumped at 1:45? Never saw that happen before.
