My dad owned a pristine one of these back in 2008-2011 but unfortunately sold it cause of financial issues, over a decade later as a 23 year old, I'm still in love with these cars, one day I hope to have my own.
Mate they came with the rust from the factory no extra charge LMAO Go the old Valiant. If it had a 318 V8 she'd be a real good old cruizer.Cheers mate🦘🦘🦘🦘
That's exactly what I don't understand as well mate. Even the 318s are great on fuel, the gas really makes them loose so much power . They just aren't fun when they run like that. Every Cm I've had went terrible, was on gas with points or no advance from the elb distributor. Well worth using Ice ignition to.
Mitsubishi made - I had one! $3900 at the auctions in 1983. The last one off the line "The Last Barstard" is in a Chrysler collection in my town. 28km on the clock.
Holly shit it's in great ridgy digging condition, I thought this before you started washing it, seats looked good too but back seat looked like some body died there and rotted away but underneath that was perfect good looking seats
Thats in great nick Coop, the jack Russell would have a party with all the rodents. I don't know why but every Cm ive had is on gas and goes like a slug . My wagon used so much gas it was cheaper to run a 4bbl on petrol.
@jamesfrench7299 just loose heaps of power on the dual fuel. Worked on a lot of cars with duel fuel that were slugs. The old ELB is missing or replaced on CMs , weak spark even with an electronic ignition. Wiring has a built in resistance, I put an msd in and woke it up. Same mild 318 was in my Cl and it went great ,put it in my Cm wagon and was gutless. Mates had the same problem until they used an msd. Msd runs straight from the battery . The early electronic ignition cars don't have that problem.
@@petergoodwin2465 I had a CL on dual fuel and petrol felt more urgent off the line if you compared directly but the gas didn't feel that different. I made the mistake of not running the petrol regularly enough and the carby clogged up so ran on LP gas full time. The 245 went good after we had extractors fitted due to the factory manifold leaking and not being able to source one in time for rego. Makes me glad I had a CL now as I wanted a CM at the time.
That's surprisingly clean. Hope the vent chamber is as well. I wonder if the motor received hardened valve seats (for LPG) in it's rebuild? My 78 CL came with those mags. Looked smart but I fitted sports rims later on as a couple of the Cheviot mags had missing centre caps and were impossible (for me) to find. I have a Regal grill in the shed BTW.
10,000 bucks wouldn't buy a car better than this , you've done well but need the title or its a parts car can't be registered unless you track it down to have it swapped into your name , the cars worth the time and effort
@@coopzcarz7312 shit hot glad you can do that , way to good to wreck for parts as this cars probably more honest than many cm still around and I like the cream paint ,, had ford xc falcon almost same color
Just found your channel mate, love your work! Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Cheers.
Love the CM’s.

Watching this makes me feel 18year old again sweet 😋
Another video to keep on watching. I cannot believe the amount of rubbish you took out of her. Going to be great to see running again.
Another gem, can’t wait to see what it comes up like.
So the last of the 265s had a cam retaining plate, so they would be the more desirable of the 265 blocks?
Some say yes
Single bolt cam give less off the shelf options

@@coopzcarz7312 interesting, so the 3 bolt cam is actually better because of choice of cams? Sounds reasonable to me.
Nice find good one

What's on the tape at 3:31?
A lot of trash 👍
Truly is amazing how you keep finding the old girls. The more that are rescued the better.
The country is a good source of hard to find cars.

I never really understood why people put Hemi powered Valiant's on LPG. I always found them to be really good on fuel.
Must of been a lead foot. Probably why the trans was rebuilt. 😂

Why not still be good on fuel, and cheaper fuel at that.
Win win.
@@petergoodwin2465not necessarily. Depends on the conversion.
Relatively speaking they were good on gas even though less power compromise tmthey werent to bad so 4cyl run cost with large size

Good car and equal to any XD Falcon or VB Commo.
Another top score Coop. 🤙
Rust looked fixable and cause the rest is good and upholstery too and all the bits are there , restoring is a must
Good Chanel bro I love my Valiants. But ya should step it up a bit . Like the 'Cars n things resto chanel'
Good save coops last of the Val's
She deserves saving. Good job guys.

Find that hard to believe. Needed a tune badly or was leaking.

Waiting for its turn 😉

Mate you lucky bugger. You alwas find
Absolute gems 💎
Shame it was on gas 🤦🏼.
Atleast the inside of the motor should look like brand new on LPG!
What? My CL was on gas in the good old days of zero excise and it was cheap as chips to run.
So you're hoarding all the Valiants Dave LOL.
Yep 😉
keep saving them, cos they wont be making anymore
