it's quite alarming seeing someone like dave--a person who had no use of his left hand--not only never getting nominated, but also advancing to the finale and eventually winning. it's so amazing how he managed to navigate this hectic kitchen and environment. it's already hard enough with all working limbs and perfect weight balance. i couldn't imagine how hard it is with a immobilized limb. it would make the entire thing ten times worse, i would think. dave made it look like it was simply second nature.
The very second Dave talked about how devastated he felt about the thought of leaving, I knew we needed to support and protect this guy until the end of time. That injury was probably the best thing that could have happened to Dave. He simply refused to give up. Ever. And that's what pushes him to prove himself time and time again. No one else had to deal with that so they got complacent. Adversity builds character.

dave was the clear favourite pretty early on and everyone was rooting for him not only because he was the best chef but because he was very kind, laid back and never gave up/complained. the other chefs, especially kevin, were extremely insecure and went from praising him when they thought he wasn't a threat to bashing him and wanting him gone because he was outclassing them with one arm. he's the best chef in hell's kitchen history for pushing through severe pain due to an early injury and beating everyone.

Dave is my favorite HK winner. He has obviously the cooking talent but more importantly, he is strong-willed who motivated himself all through out the competition since he was injured early. There is a scene where he was talking to himself in front of a mirror, not shown here, and it was inspiring to watch the strong mind this man has and his passion for his cooking. He also had a great strategy going into the contest by earning Gordon's respect first.
I have to wonder whether or not Dave would have done as well without his arm getting injured. Despite being a badass and my favorite chef on the show, he also shows respect. I like when he was making his Indian dish, even though he had no idea what to do, he tried to take into account certain meats that are commonly eaten in the US may be frowned upon if used in India.

I love dave so much he is so passionate but his voice is so monotone and sounds like he doesn't care😭😭

Dave was his only worst critic. He deserved the win more than anybody else who went on the show ever. Well deserved 👏👏
Even Scott believed in Dave because he said "Keep it up, Dave! You're doing great!" And was more vocal throughout the season.
As someone who has pushed through pain like that, it's definitely a mindset. Dave is a true warrior, and has garnered much respect for his climb to the top!
dave was the clear favourite pretty early on and everyone was rooting for him not only because he was the best chef but because he was very kind, laid back and never gave up/complained. the other chefs, especially kevin, were extremely insecure and went from praising him when they thought he wasn't a threat to bashing him and wanting him gone because he was outclassing them with one arm. he's the best chef in hell's kitchen history for pushing through severe pain due to an early injury and beating everyone.

Dave did so good in his season, he didn't deserve not getting the job at Whistler. I'm glad that he's happy now.
Him hurting his arm probably helped his motivation more than anything else did, probably one of the largest reasons he won.
Dave and Kevin were the juggernauts from the beginning and they are the best final 2 ever.

Dave accumulated so many burns and cuts on his healthy arm man... Just watch from the beginning to the end. More and more marks keep showing up on his right arm/hand.

i didnt remember his ligament being torn jeezus i thought it was a twist and burn. knowing what a damaged tendon feels like ( a fraction of what a torn ligament is) i cannot imagine how tf he was capable of moving that arm at all... i was able to feel every shiver that ran through me in my ring finger but it felt like fire. this man is truly awesome and tough to the pain
For once Dave gets the acknowledgment he deserves I hope he is doing awesome now

Dave is my favorite HK winner. He has obviously the cooking talent but more importantly, he is strong-willed who motivated himself all through out the competition since he was injured early. There is a scene where he was talking to himself in front of a mirror, not shown here, and it was inspiring to watch the strong mind this man has and his passion for his cooking. He also had a great strategy going into the contest by earning Gordon's respect first.
Season 6 is considered one of the Best Seasons EVER!!!

I have to wonder whether or not Dave would have done as well without his arm getting injured. Obviously he’s got the skill and talent, but I wonder if his arm made him push himself that much harder to become the absolute legend he was.
Favorite bit of all this I think is just the entire service starting from 27:50 where Dave just goes off handling like 5 separate dishes at once and putting them all out with high quality

15:20 I feel like in this challenge, the figs were a total plus, since it was all about creativity, and choosing a tough ingredient you need creativity to use it well.
Despite being a badass and my favorite chef on the show, he also shows respect. I like when he was making his Indian dish, even though he had no idea what to do, he tried to take into account certain meats that are commonly eaten in the US may be frowned upon if used in India.
Yep, he remembered the cow which is great, but doesn’t know about the sizable Muslim population in India, but that’s alright. The fact he considers it alone makes it great.
@@misanthropicservitorofmars2116 but to be honest India is diverse but we can't represent beef dishes maybe if its an Indian special and it's regional dishes, then yea beef dishes from Kerala can be referenced but we are talking about the majority here... So him avoiding beef is a respectful gesture... Not just beef but even pork...

Dave is a menace of a competitor. Kevin was also good though. It's clearly seen that those dudes set each other off as their own rivals and they fought fairly and without any disrespect. Best final duo
I love how you could tell immediately that Dave was gonna thrive, complete professionalism, composure, passion, and a drive to win and improve, it’s all very clear from seeing him for 5 minutes
Shame that when Dave arrived for his head chef position they told him it was only actually for a line chef spot

I think that was the catalyst to Gordon to make the winner the head chef of his restaurants, not sure on others but i think after this season obly 1 or 2 seasons had a prize not under gordon.
That happens every time, actually. They usually word the show to say “a head chef” and not “THE head chef.” They still get $250,000, so it’s not like a total loss.
Tbf he’d get the job when the current head chef left. Not many HEAD head chef positions just open and available at a top restaurant
Also that kind of job requires a lot of experience
