    What's the "donut" made of? Some type of foam?

    Mine is from long distance bicycling for over 35 years. The sesamoid has pulled away from the tendons. Foot was swollen and looked like it had a blister deep inside. Went to ER and he doctor lanced it. Thought I had stepped on something. It. Got sore again. Went to pediatrist, he X-rayed and saw the problem but he had to open it up again just to be sure I didn’t have a splinter or pet hair (thankfully I don’t have pets). So now I’m recovering from that. He thinks I should have the sesamoid removed. I’d like to try other options. I may be 71 but still enjoy cycling 40 miles 4 times a week and walking.

    Wow! Where were you a couple of weeks ago? I had to keep walking/working on my injury without padding but only cut up insoles for some time and the pain obviously remains. I was looking for a reusable diy tapping method and yours is so clever. I just tapped it, will go to work and we'll see if it comes out just as good as yours on the video! Thanx !

      +Dee Lanee Hi, how is it working for you? I'm having the same problem and bought some insoles yesterday for my shoes, but I do Aikido so I would like to know if this taping method is good to put on and be able to go and not be scared worsening my pain...

    • @Gallanitte
      @Gallanitte 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It worked to protect my foot when walking or working (very physical) but I got my injury from dancing too much barefoot so I stopped dancing for a couple of weeks. i don't know if Aikido is done barefoot but I would recommand to wear your insole for everyday stuff and take a little rest from intense activities, say 2 weeks, then start massaging your foot and try you favorite activities and see if you need more rest if the pain comes back. Hope this helps.

    hmmm...doesn't' the padding on the sesamoid make it worse? that's what I found. offloading the pressure works for me. adding padding only adds pressure

      Exactly what I thought

      By that do you mean like leaving a gapwhere the seaamoid is on Insoles? Hope your pain has gone now! I got some pads from Amazon that made it worse too, and insoles supposedly for sesmoiditis that also feel worse than the cheap ones I bought ages ago from home bargains 😂😭

    Hi! do you think this can be used barefoot? I mean and keep it tight without slipping. I'm thinking for martial arts training. Thanks!

      Did this work for your martial arts, I've been wanting to get into bjj but I have chronic sesamoiditis from a bipartite sesamoid

    What do you do if the sesamoids are
    underneath and on the inside of the foot?

    • @TheBalletBlog-LisaHowell
      @TheBalletBlog-LisaHowell ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Tristan,
      Accessory bones in the foot are very varied! Although most are found underneath the foot. If you think you have any different anatomical variation, it is very wise to check with a local health professional and get imaging done.

    I thought this is what was wrong with my toe, but you're saying the pain is on the bottom?? Mine is on the top!

    • @TheBalletBlog-LisaHowell

      Hi,
      In sesamoiditis pain is usually felt at the bottom of the foot. I highly suggest seeing a local health professional who can give you a personalised diagnosis for your pain.

    This is terrible advice. This is the opposite of offloading. A dancer's pad with a hole under the ball of the great toe is what's needed for sesamoiditis. This would kill me to wear.
