Excellent . Warm up mini tour for full By your Side tour (opening night was Eagles Ballroom Milwaukee on Feb 11 1999}.
*They played the small club side of Eagles Ballroom (the "Rave") about a month before the video above . Incendiary shows--Chris was moving again. Audley was excellent .
I thought the first show was in new haven at toads for this warm up. At least that is how they sold it to us 😂

@@gsoltis29 I met Ed a few years after the above ....I managed a hotel . Ed talked with me about the "Who killed that bird..." film and legendary Atlanta Piedmont Park '92 show (I was there ). He said it was his video /film that was used for that and the "Sting me" video.

Probably the most awkward time for the band. Chris was literally trying to will them to be sold on stage night after night with the exact same setlists. You could tell it was a marketing approach for money. Fizzled out and got old by '99. The haircut and Liza Minnelli outfits only compounded the forced, awkward phase. Yikes!
it was old in 10 minutes. But Audley Freed made it interesting for me. Most of the songs are shit though. Right up to the end, they couldnt figure out how to write another decent tune. I really enjoyed the 'Lions' tour because of the sheer volume and Audley Freed.
After that hiatus and Hookah Brown, the Crowes seemed like the mild hot sauce that really wasnt great. The alternative was going to a Strokes concert or something....
from here up to the end, I mean. pre 97 I can get into the songwriting. not always the arrangements, but its all opinion
william middlemiss I still would have preferred he stayed with cry of love 😉. I did like lions also. There are some great songs on there but also some stinkers 😂
When I heard Columbia and Kevin Shirley I knew what to expect unfortunately. Nine lives meets exile on Main Street 😂. Although I did like Kevin's mix on the drums for the Greek album.
@@gsoltis29 If there was ANY trace of Exile it would be awesome. It sounds like car commercial music. I LIKE Virtue and Vice, but it is the soundtrack to the greatest car commercial ever aired!

It really is. At the time it felt like a high energy club gig, but they kept on with this for the next 18 months. Just brutal.
