The humble juicy lucy. Invented right here in Minneapolis at Matt's Bar. (35th and Cedar.) I'm delighted to see it has made it's way to Phuket! That's amazing!
Maybe I had high expectations for the Pad Thai. Couple years ago it was really good in Bangkok. This time was pretty good but I prob give it 8/10. I wonder if Que Viet ran out of broth and added water? It’s horrible if they did? That happened to me before at a different restaurant , I can tell they prob ran out and just did water and chicken powder. No none flavor at all. When restaurants cut corners is when they lose customers.
I don't like street stalls where they display and sell loads of pre-cooked food. I want my food cooked to order. See that everywhere including here in the states.
One would expect Pad Thai to be excellent pretty much everywhere in Thailand. Even at a tourist trap. But apparently not. I was at Que Viet in NE Mpls yesterday and ordered the pho. The broth had no aroma, no flavor and no body. How does this happen? I don't get it. (The hot & spicy chicken and the sua da were good however.) Even burgers. One would expect a decent burger anywhere you go in the landlocked upper midwest of the United States. But it just ain't true. I had a burger last Monday at Willy McCoy's in Andover. It wasn't awful but it could have been much better. The beef wasn't seasoned enough, it was a bit overcooked and a bit dry. The bun and fixings were completely unmemorable. Sad lettuce. Sad tomato. I think it's partly due to ownership. Willy McCoy's is clearly corporate owned and the guy they got flippin' burgers in the kitchen is probably woefully underpaid and underappreciated. But I suspect there's more to it than that. idk

Quite the adventure! Best looking food I noticed was that papaya salad.
The Bay of Bengal. A place I will never see with my own eyes.

@@warrenj3204 yeah, they trying to save time. Not the best way for sure.
I have never been a fan of guided tours. But the crowds make it even worse. With my agoraphobia I wouldn't have been able to do it.
That was not a good experience. Way too crowded. Esp on the boat. We were shoulder to shoulder. So I comfortable!
