    I had an M18 Milwaukee battery that showed it was fully charged but the indicator on the outside of the battery said it was fully dead. Multimeter said it had the same voltage as a fully charged battery. I tried all the tricks to jump start it and just about gave up. I hook the wires up from the battery to another one for one last try and didn't notice I hooked the battery terminals up wrong and the wires were glowing red filling my house with smoke period on a good note somehow that fixed my battery and now it charges fine and works fine

      Sounds like whatever solder was disconnected in the pack was allowed to reflow from the heat

      Update: one of the battery cells was bad in the pack.

    My Milly battery has the control board encased in black epoxy. All cells stay strong at 4v. But control board not letting power through. Damn. I'll retro fit a control board and use generic charge.

    Update just a few minutes later I go to check the battery and press the battery indicator button and it says it is fully dead now. These batteries suck I can't figure them out

    My 9amp battery did the exact same thing. It was a christmas present from friends 2 years ago. They don't remember where they bought it and they didn't do the extended warranty on line at the time. It hasn't been used a lot and I keep it indoors, so no cold damage. It now looks really nice at the bottom of my bin. Milwaukee must be using really cheap batteries these days, for so many failiures. I wonder if the people in china, where the batteries are made, have told the company what they are putting inside when the slave workers are assembling these batteries.

      Milwaukee actually uses samsung cells in their packs which are very good cells. That's what's in my 9 amp hr pack anyway. The problem is the shitty circuitry that allows them to sometimes discharge improperly and then won't allow them to charge up afterward. Granted it would be dangerous to charge all the cell banks together when some are full and others are dead because you would overcharge the full cells and risk them blowing up. But I don't see why they can't figure something out to stop this from happening.

    My batteries just do not hold the charge. and when charged they will drain VERY fast. Wondering if I have a bad cell or a problem with the charge board? I do not use the batteries a lot. I charge them and let them set till I need them. all of a sudden they don't hold their charge.

    • @Electronicle
      @Electronicle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably a bad cell. Only way to tell is to take it apart carefully and measure.

    A friend of mine had a Ryobi pack that had similar symptoms. It had 2 cells that went bad. No substitutes so I scavenged and used the good cells for a hedge trimmer that only needed 8.5 volts. Curious to watch your next step. J K
