The way that Julia Roberts’ face - every pore, but especially the eyes - conveys her shifting emotions is magical, and in this episode she runs the gamut from saint to sinner. She glues your attention to the screen. And the weird thing in this episode is that Roberts is a real-life actress portraying a society woman who is a deeply convincing actress when it suits her purposes. Riveting!

Man, Julia is so stunning. She has such a fresh beauty, and such a soft, enticing, sweet voice. Her acting is epic. I'm impressed they had her on the show but hey, SVU had Robin Williams, Carol Burnett, Martin Short, so they clearly have no trouble getting A-listers. Or not-too-long-ago A-listers.

I don’t understand why these criminals don’t lawyer up. Especially after their rights are read to them.
Well these shows wouldn’t be nearly as interesting if every character involved in each case just refused to speak at all.
It does genuinely happen all the time, a lot of people don't even consider it in the stress of the situation. That and interrogators often try their best for you not to realize it's actually an interrogation and that you're a suspect, framing it as a non confrontational conversation so a lawyer doesn't cut their time short. Then there's people who just don't realize they can get one, others who think asking for a lawyer is somehow incriminating or others who stupidly think they're smart enough not to need one.

A lot of A-listers showed up, some of them playing intensely against type. One episode featuring Martin Short showed a nerve-rending performance as a likable person gradually revealed to be a monster in human form, and he made you BELIEVE it.
