The chords are: F sharp minor A major E major B major The piano note at the top is: G sharp F sharp G sharp D sharp (Add these to the chords to make it sound more like the video)
Hydraulic ballista LOL dance music theory at it's finest. Just because the second chord has A C# E doesn't make it A major, how about F# minor 6/5? Actual Chords though: F# minor 9 F# minor 6/5 C# minor 6 B Major
Fantastic tutorial! thank you very much sir. A tutorial on that piano would be amazing too, like many of your comments suggest. Keep up the great work.
When you say " give it that stereo spread with the frequencies" do you mean "give it some width across the frequency spectrum"? Because making something a lower octave doesn't make it move across the stereo field. Just incase anyone was confused by that!
not working for me, would be helpful if you previewed it properly along the way without the reverb and stuff so we could figure out where we are at with it, rather than hearing your version which sounds like a pad even from the beginning
Same. I followed many other Massive tutorials and after following all his steps the patch sounds nothing like what he plays. Even after he initialized the preset (@2:53) it already sounded different like he still had other effects running. So appreciate the effort but the tutorial is pretty disappointing.
Something is amiss. I have double and triple checked the settings and at 6:04, when you add your filters, the daft filter, with cutoff that low, completely eliminates all sound to the point it is barely audible bass with volume at full. Yet, in your video, you have an audible sound. I am close after the entire video...maybe your init is different than ours. || As always, show us the MIDI bro! Us noobs take a long time to transcribe chords to match the sound when making it :P
I think the detune macro was kind of superfluous. I always thought it was a good practice to detune all of your oscillators a few cents in either direction to give them more of a "stacked" feel.
thanks for the tutorial. anyone know why when i release my finger off the keys the sound gets louder? i've been trying to diagnose it for a minute, doesn't seem like that should be happening
how do i get the yellow line around the knob that im trying to modulate when i put a macro on a parameter it dont show up ?please help me some one .i suck with this stuff
My favourite part was the NI Maschine commercial where the 'artist/actor' stated that he likes how when he uses it he doesn't have to do his homework. I am not sarcastic. good vid though.
can you explain how when you select new sound in massive it already sounds like the air pad and not a sq sw 1 like when I select new sound? you say this is the sound were starting with. how??
As a complete newbie to Massive and VSTs in general, this tutorial was just what I needed! Many thanks!
The chords are:
F sharp minor
A major
E major
B major
The piano note at the top is:
G sharp
F sharp
G sharp
D sharp
(Add these to the chords to make it sound more like the video)
Thank you so much
Hydraulic ballista LOL dance music theory at it's finest. Just because the second chord has A C# E doesn't make it A major, how about F# minor 6/5?
Actual Chords though:
F# minor 9
F# minor 6/5
C# minor 6
B Major
Azhad Syed You're probably right. I haven't done much theory it just sounded the same as in the video.
+Azhad Syed How you play second and third chord?
+Azhad Syed what does a minor 6th/5th means? power chord with a 6 or what?
So lush and beautiful! Great tutorial, as always.
forget the pad i want dat piano !
I don't use that daw but always coming clutch with the tutorials, brilliant
What type of piano is that!?
That's what I want to know
me too!
the beautiful type
beautiful sound man. the sample at the beginning was chilling.
Fantastic tutorial! thank you very much sir.

oh my god that piano is gorgeous

That's such a beautiful pad...

what a nice sound its amazing!!
sounds great. would be even nicer if you had shown the reverb you added and the keysound real quick as you did with the bass.
ey why does my patch sound the same! made exactly as yours and put reverb on in it still not working....??
I agree. Nice one
Very smooth sound. Lovely tutorial as always!
Piano sound in this....tutorial please or at least want to know what plug in was used to make it so I can buy it right now!
Very nice sound and a great tutorial. Thx.
Chords and voicings:
F#m9 ( F# C# F# A C# A#)
A6 ( A E A C# F#)
E6 ( E E G# C# G#)
B9 (B F# C# D#)
Epicness!
What scale is this?
it's an E major scale, or an F# dorian (same notes as E major but with F# as the root note)
First chord last note is G#, not A#.
Hello ! Thank you for all the videos ! I learn a lot ! Can you tell me how do you make the piano sound ?
Absolutely beautiful!
I did all of this but it doesn't sound nothing like this lol, still got a long beep idk how to get rid of that
Thanks a lot man that's exactly what I wanted! And by the way, that's an awesome song part you should definetly complete it if you didn't already
Thank you for sharing your knowledge ! Great tut and epic pad !!
Can I plz haz a full mix of it? It's beautiful ;-;
do you have a toturial where you only make this ambient air pad?? step by step?
What sort of chords do you use in songs like these? I'm trying to get into this style of music but my chord progressions sound way to basic.
Try inversions
The recreation @ 12:15 does sound very different to the sound in the intro @ 0:19...
Where did you find that piano ? I really want it
It's a piano I layered together in Kontakt. I think it's two instances of a piano, a pad and a bell sample of all things.
***** Will you make a tutorial on that piano on kontakt?
You should definitely do a tutorial on it
***** Make a tutorual from that piano in Ni Massive Please!!!
***** Would also like a tutorial for the piano sound! There's not enough piano synth tuts on YT :)
Mine appears to have to great a delay before coming in, it seems like the attack, decay and release don't match yours despite being set the same?
Mine also did not sound like the vid and want to know how to get that piano sound.
I'm sure it's a great tut, just couldn't see most of it cos of the pop up adverts for ADSR.
great sounding pad!!
thanks for the tutorial. anyone know why when i release my finger off the keys the sound gets louder? i've been trying to diagnose it for a minute, doesn't seem like that should be happening
Can I do this using maschine & maschine jam or do I need a keyboard?
how do i get the yellow line around the knob that im trying to modulate when i put a macro on a parameter it dont show up ?please help me some one .i suck with this stuff
After you the macro in the box, just drag the number in the box the way you want! You will see it.
what piano keys are you using?gave me an idea for a song
dude that piano sound soo good, pls make vid on how to make that
great sound. thanks
i can download this rigth?
Do you have any music available for download? that synth and key are stuck in my head.
Hey man could you tell me how you did this piano sound ?
When selecting new sound it sounds nothing like what I hear from your sound
Nice work man!
Can someone please tell me why when I load a drum track and record the notes when I'm recording another note like a hi hat the other notes erase
check your recording settings. support.apple dot com/kb/PH13386
the options are ezplained here:D
My favourite part was the NI Maschine commercial where the 'artist/actor' stated that he likes how when he uses it he doesn't have to do his homework. I am not sarcastic.
good vid though.
What is the chord progression you're playing?
How come when I make this on the end of my notes I get a stab type sound??? (im using it through ableton if that makes a difference)
+Kanethechav I would Guess that the envelope is being retriggered before your note has finished. In env 1 check "One Shot"
Sounds cool!
Nice job, this pad kinda reminds me of some Oneothrix Point Never works
can you explain how when you select new sound in massive it already sounds like the air pad and not a sq sw 1 like when I select new sound?
you say this is the sound were starting with. how??
+D Rivers he had an external reverb enabled
Why does watching tutorials make me thirsty? Gotta drink water all the time
anybody know the chord progression here? finding it hard to figure out. sounds so beautiful.
+spasmo12 its been three months. I hope you have it down by now.
Great sounds. Thanks alot!
great pad! thanks a lot 😃
i tried and it sounds nothing like this... i swear i followed it step by step
Holy shit This song stuck with me theough ups and downs.
I follow you step by step but something wrong and the sound is totally different than a pad .. :/

I dont know what Im doing wrong, but it sound different :(. Your sound is awesome, my sound is nice shit.... Could you give midi :).
I got alot from this, thanks.
Very nice. 🙂

Where can you get this pad/patch?
+Gary Jocher you were just taught how to make it... that is the pad... the is the patch...
That Was Awesome

BIG Thx Great stuff
Sounds great :)
Nice one
Thanks!
don't have the pulse-saw sync
or the pulse wm
Sounds fucking epic!
I've got a lot to learn about synthesis...
Sounds like inception!
TOP!!!!!
what an intro
Sounds like keyscape
Sounds like Fallout with those Piano's
