Thank you, John. This was very helpful. I also read your replies to some of the other comments here which were also very helpful. Great use of TH-cam for a functional, well put together tutorial in what I anticipate will be one of the more well used tools in my shop.
Did an abrasive wheel course at my very first job the course was 1/2 day. On the way back the works van decided to break down on this. 1/2 course ended up go on forever brake down to a garage hat to wait for the boss to bring 2 cars to get us all back. Managed to get over time as well!! Win win
Hi, Good short video and introduction to the product. Just one, but I think important point to make. In the video you say that the supplied disc is a 'Cutting' disc for metal. As far as I am aware the actual disc shown is a 'Grinding' disc for metal. This is an import distinction as using a Grinding disc for cutting and using a cutting disc for grinding is potentially very dangerous. In the interests of safety I just thought I would raise the issue.
Just bought one need to cut subway tile for by backsplash. Does anyone know if this tool can cut tiles if I buy the right blade or can I use the diamond blade if it comes with??
Hello John. I want to use a steel cutting disc (which was sold with the unit) but it won't secure - not as thick or shaped as the grinding disc. The instruction manual is useless. Thanks in advance. Catherine
Good video.. can I use a Ridgid multi grinding diamond wheel with a Makita grinder? I ask because there is no room on the driveshaft for the inner flange nor the locking nut with the Ridgid grinding wheel.
The makita 4 inch is my favorite of all time and I have had about 10 different grinders. The smaller body feels great in your hand and they are tough and reliable. Replace the brushes and switch and theyll keep going.
Not a bad effort John but your vid' does have one major flaw. When inserting the cutting disc you say: "make sure you get it on the right way" - or words to that effect. However, you don't explain what the 'right way' is! If I was installing the disc supplied by Makita, I'd just follow what you do, but that won't work as I'm fitting a diamond blade instead (bought seperately). So, explaning which way is 'the right way' to instal discs/blades is, IMO, a major component of a setting up vid' of this kind.
@@JohnCarverUK Hi John, glad you've taken my comment in the spirit in which it was intended! In all other respects, it was a well put together and well executed short vid'. (Short is good btw, very good.) You could do a follow up vid' in which you address the different types of discs/blades availaible (along with their respective uses), with particular focus on which way round each one needs to be fitted. If you do, be sure to address which way around the locking nut goes on as well, as I copied you in this vid' which, needless to say, is the wrong way around for a diamond blade! ;-)
@@funkidstv5308 if you’re right handed, you use your right hand to hold the body of the tool and the handle goes on the left. Vice versa for left handed
Just checking, are you attempting to turn the nut anti-clockwise? You may need to tap the spanner sharply with a hammer or similar. You can clamp the used disc in a vice, but don't reuse it afterwards.

totally agree with Richard - brilliant

Lol ... can't refuse the overtime :-)
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It’s my first time using an angle grinder so this really helped me. 🌟
You are very welcome, glad that the video has helped you.
Makita is a great brand to buy.

I will have to take a look back at the video and see what I said, against the product supplied.
It's definitely a grinding disc with that thickness!
Handy wee video. Thank-you.
When using with a wire wheel cup brush do you remove the flange?? TY!
I am not sure to be honest.
Very useful thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

We have never cut tiles with ours, so we cannot give you the answer. Others might be able to.
Very helpful!!!
Thank you Alex
Great video!
Thank you very much
Thank you for you're help
Happy to help

Thank you for the feedback Catherine.
If it doesnt come in a case it means its a throwaway tool
I have not thrown mine away as yet.
Do you know where to purchase the 4 inch cup wheel?
Is this the sort of thing you mean? amzn.to/3sHIlko

Thank you for the feedback. Sadly, I dont know the answer to your question.
Excelent video!
Thank you very much 😀
Thanks for the video.
I'm looking for a 9565crv or this one.
The former has sjs I and this sjs II. Does it make any difference?
We are not sure, sorry.
Thanks this helped me a lot as I couldn’t get the guard on lol
But isn’t that disc a polishing disk not a metal cutting disc. It’s way too thick
Thanks for the feedback, glad that it was of use to you with the handle issue.
first time useing this today , the switch isnt good and the handle is very cheap , sound is ok and cutting is fine
Thanks for your feedback regarding the equipment.
Kinda sucks how the guard doesn’t have a quick adjust. But this thing is a beast, compared to my cordless.
The guard set up lame for sure when compared to Bosch, it's only 720 watts also.
Thanks for the feedback both.
Thanks bro
Welcome glad you enjoyed.
Does it come with a disk
Yes it does. Check the product link.
thank you
You're welcome
Thanks so much for this. Very useful 👍
Thank you very much for the feedback.
Can I use this machine for wood? I hope you can make a video for this.
Yes, if you use the right type of disc. You can also use other attachments such as a rotary wire brush, as we do.
Only design fault is the on-off switch. Dust can accumulate behind it after a while making the unit difficult sometimes to switch and stay on.
Yes, I would agree with that experience.

Totally agree!
Cuantas revoluciones por minuto
It has a no load speed of 11,000 rpm.
These wont beat dewalt 70$ angle grinder, mine was giving up after a week of wire wheel hell and dewalt sounds new after a year
Mine is still going well after this time.
Place the inner flange over the shaft 😂😂😂
Lol... it would be rude not to
That's a bit crap for makita, handle that you have to use a bolt in, no cutting guard.
You think so? It works a treat I feel, glad I bought it, have used it loads.
@@JohnCarverUK yep, if you need to take it off it's a pain and if you cut anything you risk sparks
nice video, not to long, does not rabbit on.
Thanks Andrew 👍

@@timwilcox960 This is precisely the info I'm looking for. I've bought a different blade and im not sure which way the nuts should go....
Your not saying which side to put handle on if right or left handed. I'm a complete novis. I'm only having to guess here 🤦♀️
Thank you for your feedback.
Can you please let me know? ;)
