These designs are beautiful and well made and have proven to survive throughout the sands of time I applaud the inventors of our past and deep respect
EMP proof. These awesome machines may actually save our bacon under certain circumstances in the future.
Steam engines cannot be ruled out either..water, a fuel source like wood, coal, etc, and lubrication is all they need. I do agree with you though...many of the oldest combustion engines could run on almost any petroleum product

I'm always amazed at how slow these gas engines run when today's engines need to idle at ten times the working rpm of these big ones.
because modern engines are far more efficient/compact in comparision.
