the music is so soft like a late night music, but the fight seems so hard, with a lot of colors and stars everywhere, really feel like you are fighting in a dream it's curious but beautiful at the same time

Honestly this particular music just triggers my PTSD because of the 10+ hours of me suffering vs Pillar Saya with this music in the background. This theme *IS* Pillar Saya to me.
That encounter took place... more than a year ago... wow (I was a newbie at that point lool). That fight was the very first *real* tough experience I had with Rabi-Ribi.
And now I can just defeat her in about 1 minute or so without any issues. Funny how that works.

All of that fight, just to be groped by Ashuri at the end.
It looked really frustrating to watch, and, frankly, I am not sure I will beat this battle in the next 2 years of playing, LMAO.
You really did great here, tho.

... well I guess we're enemies now, I actually found Ashuri's SP boss fight to be the most fun out of the three... Ribbon was do-able but whatever, Cocoa is bull imho (get hit and suddenly your screwed...), Ashuri was difficult but was also strangely fun. I really liked her SP attack patterns but then again I was playing in Casual so, maybe in higher difficulties is where her bad design shines the worst... regular Ashuri is the same, so I doubt SP would change that much....

I wasnt really talking about liking this specific fight but rather Ashuri in general though, but yeah.
Eh I do slightly overplay my hate of Ashuri, that said she slowly legit earned that status across all the multiple playthoughs I have done for a reason. Every single time you fight her she is notable for being annoying and frustrating.
From Prologue Ashuri to SP Ashuri, she is freaking pest to deal with.
Prologue Ashuri tends to be a giant wall on certain, higher difficulties/modes (Impossible/X-Bunny/0% Items higher than Casual/Bunny Hell)
Ashuri 2 is a notable newbie killer; its very possible to end up fighting that monster waaaay too early when you are new.
Ashuri on Forgotten Cave II is just plain annoying coupled with her Skill ban and such.
Ashuri SP is just plain cheap pattern-wise, on top of her usual annoyances.
But really, I think my main 2 issues with her- And, being attributes she inherently has, this applies to *all 4 encounters* on *any* difficulty- are:
      1) She is glitchy: In particular, her Dash attack can glitch the heck out, causing her to behave even more erratically then she already is. She can go completely off screen, or just misplace her usual path and it really screws everything up; funny thing is that I managed to do this multiple times on 0%, meaning just Ribbon alone can make it happen, dont even need the hammer. Most notable at Ashuri 2.
There is also the matter of her potentially spamming her jump attack indefinitely, which is also related to:
      2) She is a freaking CHEATER: Yes; thats right, because she is able to do stuff literally no other boss in the game can do- she breaks the established rules.
Sometimes, right when you think she is done with an attack, because you know, she is in her walking animation, she cant attack, right? WRONG. Because she actually can attack, with literally no real warning or delay- 0:14 and 3:28 being the offenders. She can just suddenly use them for no reason, sometimes in the middle of an on-going combo!
No one else in the game has this. Not Noah, not Irisu, not Forgotten Maiden, not the BNA gang. Its apparently something only Ashuri can do, and its extremely irritating when you notice it.
And then there is the infinite jumping she has. Thats just wrong. Refer to this:
      th-cam.com/video/1_pttfqcRkc/w-d-xo.html
Again, this is behavior NO ONE ELSE has. Nobody else repeats the same attack indefinitely like this, which leads me to believe this is yet another bug/cheat she has.
Also she can do the exact same thing on this SP version, you can briefly see it 4:06 and yes, I have had attempts ruined simply because she just decides to spam this attack for 30+ seconds on a good run...
And thats without getting on how annoying her jumping is- even if it doesnt glitch out- or the fact Ashuri 2 has a very pronounced Super Armor that makes it so she nearly always gets to do her (Really draw out, by the way) Cut-In attack. Its really hard to skip this Cut-In unlike most other bosses.
Or how about the fact Ashuri’s 2 FREAKING STAR SHIELD is the cheapest thing ever, she can insta-summon it IN THE MIDDLE OF A STUNLOCK COMBO *and* it does ridiculous damage on top of that.
Thats another thing, she loves getting out of combos. Probably due to her speed and jump spam abilities.
Speaking about ridiculous damage, Prologue Ashuri can sometimes insta kill you in her Cut-In as well. No reason given, just screw you, thats why (Sometimes a star just deals over 300+ damage for no good reason).
But I am willing to give these a pass because they are, at the very least, probably intended to work like that.
The glitchyness and the cheating, however, are another story.
As for SP bosses themselves, well, on a regular run I dont really care because they only get to do 1-0 attacks before dying with the right setup anyway so honestly before this 0% BEX run I never really saw most of their attacks, but now that I have, based purely on the patterns, Ribbon SP is the most fun and fair of the 3. And I think a good reason for that is that she actually has an order that you can sort of memorize and predict, which attacks she will do next; Ashuri and Cocoa are both just random for the most of the part.

@@flariz4824 nice essay! But yeah I've got to agree, Ashuri is spammy as all heck and tbh with you, it's only this battle with Ashuri that I honestly feel is fun. After reading through that though, oof, Ashuri is something else in a bad way.
To be specific, Ashuri 2 is probably the worst encounter, simply because of the star shield and how her dash likes to glitch out sometimes when I've got her locked in a combo meaning she'll just dash right through me, no animation for getting on the broom, nothing: never look forward to that battle.
The other encounters with Ashuri are not that bad imo, prologue Ashuri can be a nightmare-fest but... actually there's no defense to prologue Ashuri, she's just a nightmare-fest.
However, Forgotten Cave 2 Ashuri is fine, all FC2 bosses die in seconds even without a good combo so, if you're doing well you won't even realise the bosses have a special debuff gimmick! In fact I don't even remember fighting FC2 Ashuri and I'm fairly trash at this game!
Finally, I mainly just like Ashuri's character... her boss fights suck but, imo, Ashuri is pretty nice as character.

      @flariz4824  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@domlight7254 FC2 Ashuri is certainly the easiest one, however, depending on how you do the combos, it can also be annoying, because her Super Armor/Defense Boost may kick in early, making the fight draw out- and in the process, make it more likely to get hit by her and cause Skill Ban, which will make it draw out even more... none of the bosses on FC2 are particulary threating yeah, but Ashuri 2 can actually kill because of that.
I would say Prologue and Ashuri 2 are the worst ones, both for different reasons, can be a massive wall on certain situations.
FC2 Ashuri isnt that bad and Ashuri SP on regular runs can be speedkilled somewhat easily (Still the most annoying out of the 3 SP bosses tho).

What a miserable experience, looks like they didn't balance any of these special bosses for 0%probably because the developer thought nobody would bother and is extra content anyway after the postgame.
This game is just some minor tweaks away from being a perfect game.
I think the one major flaw of this game it's how hard it is to make workshop content for, hard to mod in general.
I also think that while i don't mind ribbon's design myself, i think her design (and some others) gives a bad first impression and makes people ignore or judge this game for something else and miss out on one of the best platformers in the genre.

    • @flariz4824
      @flariz4824  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well, even the actual 0% achievement essentiality ends at Irisu, these SP bosses are never required at all, so I am quite sure they never were intended to be done on 0%. They just simply happen to be accessible even with no items, unlike Order DLC.
Even with certain flawed attacks, I am honestly surprised at how doable BEX 0% is. The fact you can even theorically dodge most of the attacks - even when the devs themselves probably never intended a BEX 0% run to be done - is very impressive and speaks very well of how this game is designed IMO.
I do wish it was more mod-friendly yes, I have heard it is anything but that sadly. That is yet another reason of why I appreciate the custom maps even more.
Yeah I guess Ribbon may give some sort of bad impression but then again, if it’s not her, it will be something else. What I am trying to say is that if people can’t accept the game for what it is, then I doubt Ribbon will be the only thing they will judge, sadly.
