Lecture handout is available for free download here: kikoxp.com/posts/6004. See also this short video about how a tissue biopsy gets turned into a glass slide so a pathologist can examine it and make a diagnosis: kikoxp.com/posts/4442. A complete organized library of all my videos, digital slides, pics, & sample pathology reports is available here: kikoxp.com/posts/5084 (dermpath) & kikoxp.com/posts/5083 (bone/soft tissue sarcoma pathology).

I respect if you dont want to respond but can i ask, it it possible to miss sarcoma on an ultrasound? I had what started as a small lump on my leg, over 5 months it has changed drastically and now covers 2/3rds of my inner calf. I had an ultrasound and apparently its normal and my doctor wont do anything further and told me to ask my rheum if it was something caused by my connective tissue disorder. Im worried sick because this started as a small quarter sized lump and has grown so much. All I've read seems to connect but i feel so lost on what to do

@@TheNobleRot1 I definitely will! I have an appointment arranged with one of the head practitioners in my drs office to express my concerns so I'm hoping she takes it more seriously when I see her

Yes sarcoma can certainly be missed on ultrasound. And even sometimes on more advanced imaging like CT and MRI (although those are much better usually). If you have a mass that keeps growing, please seek a second opinion. An orthopedic oncologist is a type of orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating sarcoma and other soft tissue and bone tumors. If you can find one in your area, that would be a good doctor to see for further work up. Best wishes for health and healing.

@@JMGardnerMD This is so informative. Thank you so much! I'm definitely going to seek out a second opinion and look into the oncologist for further assistance. Thank you for taking the time to respond, it's deeply appreciated 🙏🙏

I’m so sorry to hear that. I only diagnose sarcoma but I do not treat it. What type of sarcoma does she have? Is there a major cancer center you can go to near your area?
