In Ethiopia (even in the remote countryside) the adults, these who are 17+, in most cases will not harass you and ask for money. Because even though they are relatively poor, they have a sense of pride. But the little children can bother you a lot. Sometimes you just have to deal with it. I see a lot of Kenyan Indians doing this a lot and everyone wonders how they are able to maintain family business for years and years. The secret is to start teaching them when they're still young.

I enjoy all your video's they are very interesting to see the places people and how they live I can't afford to go to those places so this is the next best way to learn from you. I am a mother of two young adult children I love kids I really feel for them being poor but when the children run a long with your bike asking for money that Is a little too much for too long a distance making all that noise I was wondering when you were going to stop them it was getting under my skin plus for safety for them and yourself. I use to travel a lot and had gone to some poor countries like Jamaica and sometimes people and children begging for money I gave until I couldn't give any more otherwise I would end up poor and I still had two more weeks to live in that country and on what If you run out of money. I was told by a local they just see a foreigner so there are people who don't understand that your not rich and they don't care. To them every foreigner comes from the USA and is rich but they are wrong because you are struggling too.

Oh that’s weird. All Ethiopian restaurants here in Stockholm (there are like 4-5) serve teff injera that come by air several times a week. Maybe they give you teff if you ask for it (I know Ethiopians would expect teff anyway :))

you need to understand this kids are from a very poor family. Their parents most likely struggle to send them to school and kids being kids they would often end up losing their pen so they need spare pen that is why they are asking for money or pen.
@@loveyoutube2 I wouldn't say it is a norm. Because Kids growing up in cities wouldn't pester tourist like those we witnessed on this video. You see the kids growing up in the countryside are faced with harsh poverty compared to those in the cities due to the fact their parents have very little income. The parents in the countryside struggle to afford the basic needs of their kids. For instance you heard some of the kids asking for pen repeatedly and other asking for money. That kids would often lose their pen and their parents cannot afford to buy them replacement pens on a regular basis hence why they ask for Pen. Personally If I did travel to the countryside I would travel with loads of pen and pencil and hand them out than handing out candy.

you need to understand this kids are from a very poor family. Their parents most likely struggle to send them to school and kids being kids they would often end up losing their pen so they need spare pen that is why they are asking for money or pen.

@@loveyoutube2 I wouldn't say it is a norm. Because Kids growing up in cities wouldn't pester tourist like those we witnessed on this video. You see the kids growing up in the countryside are faced with harsh poverty compared to those in the cities due to the fact their parents have very little income. The parents in the countryside struggle to afford the basic needs of their kids. For instance you heard some of the kids asking for pen repeatedly and other asking for money. That kids would often lose their pen and their parents cannot afford to buy them replacement pens on a regular basis hence why they ask for Pen. Personally If I did travel to the countryside I would travel with loads of pen and pencil and hand them out than handing out candy.
