I think this video is a good reminder for all the amateurs out there that tennis is freaking hard. All of us, at all levels, have bad days. Or days that we aren’t feeling it. Day’s that we are rusty after some time off. We are tired from previous days, legs aren’t working. Forget the idea that us pros play amazing everyday. That’s a myth. Well said Karue. Thank you and Taylor both for sharing this practice session. Taylor is a super-talented player such as you and I will not be surprised at all if he reaches the top 5 ATP ranking again (maybe higher from there). Just my observation that if the level difference is significant e.g. perhaps more than say 3 UTR points, even on bad days the player with higher level usually finds a way to win (there would be exceptions of course). When the levels are closer (I think skill-wise you and Taylor are on the same level), you can wake up in the morning feeling rusty and horrible (previous match or other reasons as you mentioned) and see not much working on that day. The other thing about tennis is how the players match up style-wise (so many other factors also). Every great tennis player has a kryptonite. For you maybe certain players (fast scramblers who do not hit hard necessarily) may give you more trouble that would give to Fritz. For Taylor, those who hit the ball on the rise such as players like you may cause more issues. The algorithm to play a tennis match is just insane.
karue at the end of the day is a top 700 player with a lot of experience against americans, well played to him! taking a set off a top 20 player is no small feat. but remember that tennis isn't really about one-off results. karue might have beaten him here, but if you pit them up several times throughout the year against each other in big events, chances are that fritz will win a majority. having the consistency over 40 weeks is what makes someone move from top 50 to top 20. an example of this would be players like eubanks or draper: highly talented but not consistent enough to make it to the top 20, whereas a grinder like baez is able to. regardless, this is a phenomenal video

Fritz is a great player, he's been performing at a Top 10-20 level for a while now so there's no question of his talent. But we're honestly happy to know that what we suspected about Karue is right - he hits like an elite player and this is just validation of that.
While it takes nothing away from the achievement of taking a set off Fritz in any condition, I also thought that Fritz was not 100% there, and indeed looked hungover. .
Taylor was so harsh on himself/ negative with his self talk throughout this set, Karue on the other hand ..calm ,composed and flowing!! Positive energy baby! Great stuff and love the shoes

I didn't expect this score, Taylor Fritz is a beast. Well done! I saw that Karue was playing often to Taylor's forehand, and this was probably one of the keys to winning this set.
Terrific content, as your's always is. You obviously have the skills. If your draws don't have you playing Alcaraz or the Joker in the first round, then you'll start climbing the ladder. It's crazy that you're at this level at this age, and still rising. I wish you nothing but the best, sir! I appreciate your humility and drive.
This tells me everything I need to know about Taylor Fritz. I am now a fan. Played on the tour myself in 1984 - 1989 (on and off). Getting a top player to allow you to record is something special.
I didn't hear you are analysis but that looked like a credible set and it goes to show the importance of a big serv and first ball attack especially when the top guy is playing the relaxed unserious tennis.
Wow great stuff from you Karue! Exceptional consistency--especially on the serves your power was constant. This definitely wasn't Fritz's day, but kudos to you Karue for playing your game.
Love to see Bruins battle it out! I saw Fritz play some practice sets at the Delray Open, dude is a beast with serious power on both wings. Super impressive to watch live.
As I said before, your movement is Tour level for sure, as is your backhand. That's two real weapons at any level, and no one should underestimate any player who has that. Your top-level movement feeds right into isolating the swing plane (keeping the rest of the body still once your stance is strong) and you were certainly doing that much better than Taylor was today. Your swings were really pure in other words. Your serve might have been better than ever, although it's often a strength IMO. Returns looked amazing too, especially considering the great server you were playing. This might be the first comment I ever made after a tennis match that does not have a negative, but it really looked good on all fronts. Really looking forward to seeing you in more challengers. And YES all tennis TV should be from the low angle camera!!!!!
Great effort on your part. You served much better than he did and returned amazingly. I can’t recall more than 1 return error and you were in close! This tells me more about Taylor‘s lack of effort in practice than almost anything. I can’t imagine a crappy level of preparation or execution or focus from anyone else in the top 13 except Tsitsipas. Taylor is moping and F-bombing from first few points. Not able to regroup after he was broken in first game. I wish I had not seen how he practices. It’s hard to respect his lack of effort and discipline and focus. So many gifts. I am sure if you had his gifts you would be top five.
Karue! I felt like I was watching my little brother out there, watching you play today. Never had watching tennis been so nerve-racking and fun. Keep it up, brother. Win or lose you should be proud of taking another go at it.
I think Fritz got exactly what he wanted out of this practice set. He’d taken some time off after playing a lot on the road, and just needs to get some reps in against a quality player to start sharpening up again. No more no less.
Fritz was obviously playing at 80% power and missing way more shots than usual but this is still so cool to see Karue beat the top ranked American. Congrats to you man, keep up the great work and I can't wait to see you at the Challenger and soon Main level tour!
Great stuff Karue! Loved to see that performance vs a great player. Man Fritz had a lot of down the line shots right in the line, those were really high quality. Great serving by you as always, keep up the great playing and content man
Without looking at the score, but looking at your consistency, shot selection and %, this is top 150 easily. It´s all about being consistent at that level.
I love this content Karue! Everybody here is fully invested in your journey. My game has greatly improved from taking in your content. I have no doubt you will be breaking the top 300 this year
Karue didnt leave the tour because of his ability. He left because he couldn’t assimilate to tour life, but he’s ok with that. His QoL was/is better for it.
@@user-oj7co5wm8g Karue has a greater purpose now! TH-cam subs haha. In all seriousness, he has the game, desire and maturity now for the big leagues. Hopefully he stays fit and healthy!
Karue awesome playing against this years wimbledons quarter finalist. Even though you say this doesn't mean much bc it's just a practice set, it shows you are right there with the level of play needed to break into the top 100. The consistent high level is key! Every now and then you see a low ranked qualifier go far in a grand slam. Every new break through has those nerves you have to deal with, that mental aspect of knowing you belong, its just another match.... Keep it going!!!
rebound/power on a racquet is based on how close you can get to the sweet spot or more flexible area on the racquet, a difference of a few mm makes a massive difference in power. I just think the top pros are so good at getting that close so often that its just something you can't teach up to a certain point
This camera angle is what TV should use at least 1/2 the time.....Fritz , for a top player , gets very little net clearance.....Tennis is so mental...great playing man....Keep it up!
Firstly you serving was so on point, looks like you were hitting your marks so well. It was really surprising to see how many errors Taylor was making where as you looked relaxed and were swinging so nice and freely. I guess that even the pros can.t be amazing all the time.
Very cool that Taylor allowed it. You can see how big his serve is, when it's landing. Karue, you played right in the middle of your body, super consistent, no front foot, no back foot. You looked relaxed, no pressure.
Taylor has become one of my favorite players. It doesn't show in this video, but he's become a real force and I look forward to seeing him play every tournament.
It's a practice set, and Fritz looked like he was not 100% focused, but Sell did not make it easy on him. Loved the consistency of Sell's groundstrokes, only executing the shot he was supposed to hit (as opposed to the shot you want to hit). This shows that Sell is physically and technically there with a top 10 player, as well as showing his mental strength. If Sell continues his path up the rankings, he will have no issues competing with higher ranked players at tournaments once he gets used to the pace and mental stress of an official match at those higher levels. Thanks for sharing the video!
For a tour player at Fritz’s level, what are coaches looking for a player to gain out of a practice set like this? To the public it would seem like “well that went horribly wrong” but I doubt it’s the case and there’s obviously more going on. Is it just get out there and do reps no matter what or is it more goal specific for the set? And as the practice partner, how included are you into that convo?
I think Karue mentions that at the time Taylor had some time off prior to this so I imagine it was about reps in this instance. Also he’s mentioned in the past the it’s one thing to take a set of these guys but another to win an entire match then do it all over again the next and so on. The skill sets are similar but the overall athletic/mental resilience is on different levels.
I was right. I guessed 6-2, but the other way round. Only seen you play one other YT match, perhaps on W Du’s channel. What struck me was that sneaky ass toss you had. That serve is brutal, change directions when player guesses and leans out wide and you hit the T. Goes to show, a well placed serve is perhaps better than a serve bot 128mph avg serve. I’ll keep my eyes out for you. Don’t care this was a practice set and you’ve played Fritz before. Competitors are competitors and the top players have bullseyes on their backs at all times! Keep it up. Top 200-100 loading.
It's exciting that you can beat one of the best players in the world!!! I'm really happy for you and of course underlines your level - I would be interested to know what specific points are different for you between a match with Taylor and practicing at such a high level and not club level (like I play)? :) But such nice videos and good luck for upcoming tournaments
The difference between top ranked pros and lesser ranked pros is smaller than you think. The key is holding an elite level for an entire 3 or 5 set match. That’s what separates. Fritz would win a 3 or 5 setter off karue 10 times out of 10. Also there’s an adrenaline factor here where Fritz is used to playing in front of 10s of thousands of people, not some random local park. Probably tough for him to even get up for Still impressive though. Great playing
10/10? def not on this day. either fritz wasn't really trying during this practice set, didn't care, or really was just this much off. highly doubt he'd take the second set either, but we'll never know.
I respectfully disagree with both of you here. He’s a top 15 consistent tier player in the entire world. That’s no accident. Karue is excellent in his own right but there is levels to this. It be 10/10
@@PaPDaDDI You're not a "top 100" player, just because you won a practice set off a top pro. Fritz will always win when it's official, unless Karue himself improves.
Ahh Taylor..great lad. He knows he's got work to do to get himself into the top 5. He's got a great ethic and I know he'll climb up, especially if you Karue can share some of your nuanced expertise along his journey. Hey, and to think he's beaten Nadal !! How many of us mortals could ever claim that.?.great action coverage too. Great work lads!
This had to be a nice boost of confidence for Katie, he definitely played really well. Taylor on the other hand was completely misfiring and didn’t have his serve. Kind of how his season has been going this far
Karue couldn’t seem to keep up on forehand side as soon as Taylor cranked up the pace on the forehand. The difference in “easy” power is astounding even at this level. But the backhand side exchanges were very impressive. Good job Karue!
Way to go Karue nice practice set , you can clearly see when you gave Taylor a lot of time to set up he can rip those forehand winners but way to pressure him early !
Karue!!!! Eu sinceramente não imaginava que você venceria mesmo sabendo que você joga muito bem. Meus parabéns! Seu talento é incrível e bastante motivador.
It just shows how difficult it is to be a top 100 player. They are so many good players out their. Reaching the top is one thing. Staying in the top 100 or even top 20 is the hell of a job. RESPECT to every player.
No matter how you put it, you just beat the current world no. 12, a former top 10 player period. You completely outplayed Taylor fair and square. You can be a top 100 player with the right opportunities. Really wish you nothing but the best! Keep going!
Practice set or not, it was real play. I watched the entire match. Taylor was not giving you anything. It just goes to show everyone that Karue can hit with anyone. Seeing Taylor just playing days ago at Wimbledon 2024, and Karue beating him in this match, show you that he could have easily been playing at Wimbledon. Yeah, that was real tennis. BTW, Taylor swears a lot more here than he did at Wimbledon LOL. It was nice of Taylor to play that set with you Karue. You have the skills, so excited to follow your tennis journey up the ranks ! Do NOT STOP ! - You got so much talent.
@@dariussparkes7080 Yup you are correct. Even match play at say the French Open is also "practice" It's like musicians like Metallica, they play a LIVE show and in effect are also "practicing" which in reality keeps them in top form, and reduces how much "practice" they have to do without an audience.
Awesome content. Karue is a great example of how rankings can be misleading. There ain’t 600 people in the world bette than him lol…Taylor’s power game is impressive.
Could you upload some warm-up (buliding up intensity) groundstrokes hitting clips with this camera angle? Such a relaxing and learning thing watching and studying technique.
Seemed like an off day for Taylor as he unusually sprayed a lot of groundies. So many of Taylor's first serves are so nasty, truly a world class serve.
Hey Karue, I know you mention not to make a big deal out of it. I get that. But even so, I have to point out a few things; relative to Taylor, your movement really stood out to me. And I think a lot of that is due to the work you've put ion lately. It really shows. You seemed to be so much more "on it". Also, I do think maybe Taylor was a little flat. Not to take anything away, but he made a lot of errors. His serve is pretty clearly a weapon when it goes in, but I feel like his percentages werent where they normally would be. So, a bit of a mixed bag all over, but on your side, you were able to control your side of the court very VERY well. And I think thats what really showed in the end. You dont need to have the biggest serve, forehand, backhand, smash, and volleys. As long as you can control what you have, you have a good chance. And your backhand in particular is really solid. Really enjoyed watching this. Keep going Karue. You have fans all over the world, and we hope to see you climb the rankings. I for one would love to see you win a few matches in a grand slam. USO wild card maybe? Fingers crossed.
I think this video is a good reminder for all the amateurs out there that tennis is freaking hard. All of us, at all levels, have bad days. Or days that we aren’t feeling it. Yeah, it's not about making your best better, it's about increasing your baseline performance so you're more consistent
Either that or Karue is just freaking awesome.
Well said Karue. Thank you and Taylor both for sharing this practice session. Taylor is a super-talented player such as you and I will not be surprised at all if he reaches the top 5 ATP ranking again (maybe higher from there).

I expected it! On the Toroline instagram giveaway I predicted 6-1 in your favor, I was wrong by 1 hahaha. Love seeing this!
Vaiiii cavalo! Your serve is on point bro. Hard work is paying off!
What's crazy is even though he lost, Taylor's game looks so much "bigger" and more polished than Karue's. Just couldn't find his shots
yeah he has A LOT of power. Just easy power
@@KaruesellHQ u2
no kidding. it's like the guy plays with top 50 every week... 🙄
Karue game is More placement then power
Not sure I agree about the polished part. Karue's technique is super clean.
I did not know you can play at this level. Kudos to you - Fritz serve is crazy!!!!
Taylor's serves coming at you like a torpedo & you managed. Congrats, practice or not that's a great result & should give you a lot of encouragement.
Man, just keeping it up with T. Fritz is impressive... respect to you
I wish we could have heard the comments and self talk from you and Taylor! Some of it us hilarious and gives us an inside look
Awesome work bro . Respect your grind and hustle
But such nice videos and good luck for upcoming tournaments
The difference between top ranked pros and lesser ranked pros is smaller than you think. The key is holding an elite level for an entire 3 or 5 set match. That’s what separates. Fritz would win a 3 or 5 setter off karue 10 times out of 10.
Also there’s an adrenaline factor here where Fritz is used to playing in front of 10s of thousands of people, not some random local park. Probably tough for him to even get up for
Still impressive though. Great playing
10/10? def not on this day. either fritz wasn't really trying during this practice set, didn't care, or really was just this much off. highly doubt he'd take the second set either, but we'll never know.
Would not be 10/10 if we are talking Fritz vs Sell in a Bo3. Probably more like 8/10 with Bo5 being 9/10.
Except the big 3😂
Karue's court intelligence is just excellent. He's not winning with pure physical gifts but makes the other player work and is just solid all around.
Wow...impressive stuff, even if he was coming back from a break thats really good going. 👍
That return at 5:20 man insane split step timing and take off
Wow, man! Playing like that, you def have a shot at the slams ;)
What a great match Taylor played at Wimbledon today. He was hitting some Karue-like backhands 👏
Karue!!!! Eu sinceramente não imaginava que você venceria mesmo sabendo que você joga muito bem. Meus parabéns! Seu talento é incrível e bastante motivador.
What a SET!!!! This is exciting! Maybe become a future Top 10 !!! 👏👏
Hey Karue! How do you put the score up top? Is it all editing or something do it for you?
It just shows how difficult it is to be a top 100 player. They are so many good players out their. Reaching the top is one thing. Staying in the top 100 or even top 20 is the hell of a job. RESPECT to every player.
Nice work Karue!
Awesome! Could you perhaps mount your camera higher? Where the "18" sign is would be awesome!
Well done, Karue
No matter how you put it, you just beat the current world no. 12, a former top 10 player period.
You completely outplayed Taylor fair and square.
You can be a top 100 player with the right opportunities.
Really wish you nothing but the best!
Keep going!
I thought 6 2 but for Taylor. That's crazy man, love your compact strokes. Keep it up
Practice set or not, it was real play.
Practice set or not.. it's practice.
Final backheand winner was epic ❤ hitting the camera 😲
Very cool vid! Good luck on your journey
Thank you for sharing you inspire me
Could you upload some warm-up (buliding up intensity) groundstrokes hitting clips with this camera angle? Such a relaxing and learning thing watching and studying technique.
Seemed like an off day for Taylor as he unusually sprayed a lot of groundies. So many of Taylor's first serves are so nasty, truly a world class serve.
Even though Taylor was out of sorts, the soundcoming off his racket was scary. Karue looked great. Credit to Taylor for allowing the recording
Great to watch 💪💪💪
Keep it up! This practice is great!
Amazing bro, you should continue competing🎉
Sell did amazing. Fritz game looked off though. Seen him play sweetly on the grass. Looked entirely different there.
man you beat 6-2 the n 12 in the world, for real keep pushing you got the level and you can go deeper, incredible
Keep it up man
Karue, esse quadra de Roland Garros atrás de você no seu escritório está 10 anos adiantado do que deveria estar haahaha.
Abraço
Hey Karue,
I know you mention not to make a big deal out of it.
