Tremendous video! That's the best description of the two swings I have ever heard, and it has definitely clarified my thinking on the subject.
The only thing I would add is that the reason the push swing is taught is because it may be a little easier to teach, and it does improve most people's BAD swings almost immediately, whereas the swing that turns the bat more from behind the hitter is a little more difficult to learn but, once mastered, is by far the better of the two swings.
So the instructors who teach the push swing often DO see positive, but MEDIOCRE, results almost immediately, but once this pushing swing becomes ingrained, it becomes more difficult than ever for the hitter to learn the swing that you recommend which is the BEST and only swing suited for a hitter who wants to hit with the most power and the best consistency at the highest level.
I think this may explain why so many instructors are placing young hitters on the wrong path, one that can only lead to mediocrity (which is often a great improvement) but then, in some ways, leaves the hitter even further from the genuine greatness of the only swing that every great hitter uses.
Do you agree that this (almost excusable) shortsightedness may explain why so many instructors mistakenly resist the swing you are teaching?

I was just in the cages other day and was so uncomfortable thinking why does my swing feel like I'm pushing to stay inside with no bat speed..? You just explained it for me, much appreciated! Any tips or vid suggestions are welcome. Blessings,

Man you are so right and to get the kids to focus on those little things to get them out of those habits is tuff if they have had any little success when they were younger

This 'push swing' is the hitting disease of youth softball and baseball. Some call it a linear hand path, A to C or A to B hand path. They think that hands in a straight line with knob is fastest way to ball. It is, except this is not boxing. You aren't hitting the ball with your hands or the knob. It is a backwards swing - they are lengthening the lever with front shoulder not turned, then turning their body with this now longer lever and trying to whip bat around with top hand. The problem is that basic mechanics dictates starting any turn with short lever to gain angular momentum, then gradually lengthening lever to take advantage of long lever at contact. If you start with a short lever, much of the lengthening of the lever will come from a pendulum effect, the hands will have little to do and the bat will be "weightless through the zone".

Really interesting. But please correct me if I’m seeing this incorrectly -
To Me - it appears that this is not demonstrating a PUSH swing compared to a NOT PUSH swing
But rather demonstrating WHEN to PUSH - meaning either starting to PUSH with your hands in your chest - or at full extension.
    Does that make any sense??
    Thank you!

Hi, watched this vid and your dispelling the arm bar myth vid and they make a lot of sense, I would love some help/tips. College sophomore, push-type swing/not getting hands back to power position. Hitting too much from close to the ear and trying to revamp my swing this summer to get more pop. I can send you pics/vid of my current swing. Appreciate it
