The best song from a songwriting genius... performed beautifully. But not only is he a great writer he also has a unique and haunting voice and yes.... he is one of the best guitarists you will hear... in fact the solos in the concert and the one in Glasgow are all sublime with a great mixture of melody, distortion and downright exemplary phrasing.... Overall a bit of a god then! Why oh why were L&M not an enormous act... travesty!
Goose bumps - the guy's a genius! I agree with so many of the comments here that something's not right when a talent such as this goes relatively unrecognised by "the masses". But then the main thing I suppose is that at least my life has been enriched by his music and continues to be.......
...I broke my heart to this album and this song in particular... I fell madly in love with a beautiful girl who, I knew in my heart would never be mine ultimately...We used to listen to this over and over... It hurt so much, that I have not been able to listen to this song until today - 20 years on! An ultimate moment, ultimate band and raw, raw emotion... Peace come soon... (Melanie, I still care...xx)
I was lucky enough to see this amazing band in my hometown of Birmingham in the early 90's, can't believe they never really made it that big, they deserved superstardom. Enjoying listening to 'My tortured soul' James Grant.
What a find! Many thanks for posting this. I had the live performance of this from Glasgow School of Art on MP3 but this is different... Prodigiously talented in all departments but it's JG's guitar which gets me... For me Strange Kind of Love is the best album but they are all excellent and I only wish they were still around...sadly bassist Bobby McGeechan died last year but what a legacy to leave... Glasgow strikes again!
love and still love this band,40ny says it all. why do they not bestride the world? love Bobby Patterson's bass playing, a great and criminally underrated player . Good Journey Boab.
Superb song from the great 'Strange Kind Of Love' LP. I got into them in 1988 and that LP is timeless and brings back fond memories. I love 'Dogs In The Traffic' too. James is a great singer and fantastic guitarist!
This band, robbed of deserved fame by the apathy of those who wouldn’t know good music if it struck them kin the face - thank you Love and Money for true excellence.
...just stumbled over this one---pleasant surprise--never heard of these guys before---good singer also plays lyrical leads with excellent tone--good blues ballad--sound quality is superb for you tube.......
saw love and money on itv chart show , bought the album , lent it out time and time again , everybody loved em ! Obscurity beckoned , fame fickle fame sang the smiths !
Antonio Cucci me too, and I'm from England, best band of the eighties, along with then Jericho and the wooden tops, and anything Paul Weller did, 'you know what I mean'.
I hope there's tickets left, as I've introduced this man to so many people. I never seen this advertised anywhere recently...snowed in at the moment too :-( Thanks for posting ballyconnel.
I loved their first album a great deal not only because the band is great but producer Gary Katz was responsible for the great style and production quality it had.
ir a un concierto de L&M obviamente es imposible, pero lo que daría por tener un video de uno al menos :S ¡qué maravilla este shape of things to come! jamás lo escuché en directo, y esto impresionado. L&M y James Grant fueron y son lo mejor.
I want to thank brian faustino for turning me on to this masterpiece to mary Wright of kewanne wi for showing me that there is garden of Eden in wi to the both of thanks so much
I was at this concert - the band was absolutely brilliant - but some Highland idiot launched a beer glass at them halfway through - spoiled the atmosphere a bit.
One of the most underrated bands of all time.
Ditto on that!

Love and Money had everything. I'll never understand why they didn't conquer the world. Them and The Blue Nile...
James Grant... great vocalist, great guitarist... Simply the best!!!

The other band who never made it big is Cousteau. Both bands criminally ignored
I was at this concert - the band was absolutely brilliant - but some Highland idiot launched a beer glass at them halfway through - spoiled the atmosphere a bit.
Painful to listen to. Bland as beenz.
Really boring 80s corporate blues/rock.
Great great great band
