Interesting, however you fail to mention the most important item- Plastic molding is a thermal process, the design of the mould most ensure that heat is removed from the plastic in the most efficient manner. Only 4 things which must be considered in sequence- Get the material in, get the air out, get the heat out, get the part out. Good luck
Do they pull full vacuum before injecting the plastic or do you just leave a few thousand air gap around the 2 mould halves to allow the trapped air to escape?
Good video to illustrate how mold is designed and manufactured. About the injection mold life span, maybe you could get it more detailed, such as with different plastic material, what steel is more suitable to achieve certain life shots. Thanks for sharing.
Steel molds are more expensive even though the material is cheaper because machining steel takes much longer than machining aluminum. Depending on the machine used to cut the mold and the mold design it can take 2-5+ times longer to machine steel than aluminum. There is also more programming time of the CNC machine needed because you have to be more careful with breaking cutters. So shops charge more for the labor and the machine time for steel molds.

Can I make human miniature I injection moulding

Depending on the plastic used there are many cooling solutions. I make automotive molds, and every single one is water cooled.
@Dree Underwood Oh boy do I love cutting little microscopic vents into the parting line by hand. It's the most fun ever :P
@thomasbarlow4223 there are small extremely shallow gaps machined on the mold faces that allow air out

Thank you for sharing this knowledge. Great informative video.
But how did they do before CNC? How did they make intricate and detailed moulds like airplane model kits?
They would have a clay copy and a stylus that would trace the clay and the other end would cut the metal.
"Orange Plastics academy is brought to you by Orange Plastics", no shit! 😅
Can kevlar or carbon fiber will be used for moulding
What would be the cost of average moulding for semi automatic verticle moulding
I want to learn how to design injection molding, any course to learn it?
How long does it take to prepare a mold?
30 to 40 days
when you see the shining steel you will be happy.
Can I make humanminiature from injection moulding
sir what plastic has good durability? Going for science projects.
please tell the price per kg or price of sheet of thickness 2mm, 1square foot
Can I make humanminiature from injection moulding
Nice
why are aluminium moulds more expensive when steel is a cheaper material (most grades)
