  • After many years I get to try my own homegrown Parfianka pomegranates, which many have stated is the best tasting pomegranate variety in the world. Noting taste of well balanced sweet to acid ratio and a completely edible seed. Also in this video I am celebrating 4 years of uploading urban gardening videos to this channel here in the urban garden in Central Valley California, USDA Zone 9b.

    Got a Parfianka three years in the ground. You're right about the taste and no seed. I have 3 Wonderfuls, a Parfianka, and an Austin, which hasn't bloomed yet. The Austin is for juicing. Can't wait!

      Such an amazing variety, now it should have about 25 pomegranates on it this year.

    Thanks. I grew several very good pomegtanates on the south side of my Roseburg, Oregon home's south facing wall. I was surprised to succeed. I had not heard of the Parfiaka variety. Im looking for ideas for when i move to the Philippines. I will absolutely plant at least several of these soon after i get there.

    We tried a Parfianka in a greenhouse in Humboldt County, CA, but it never fruited. Now that we're in Utah our home came with a Dixie/Utah Sweet. It is very sweet and nice to not be staining, but it seriously lacks flavor. I have yet to see any Parfiankas at the local nursery so may have to mailorder one, which I hate to do (even tho I used to run a mailorder rose nursery :-) ) Thank you for the reminder about this variety. Guess I'm putting a lot of trust in a total stranger's taste buds, but I love growing fruit too, so I'm sure we think alike in many ways.

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a non-staining variety as well, they are too sweet in my opinion and there is not much flavor but if you research Parfianka you will see many people referring to it as the best pomegranate, it’s simply amazing.

    Hi can you advise how tall it gets eventually?

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can get about 15-20 feet tall in my area. But I do not want any of my fruit trees that tall (harder to harvest).

  • @ludanhuang
    @ludanhuang 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How tall is your Parfianka? Trying to see it's suitable to grow it in a spot that's close to the house.

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Regardless of how tall the trees get, I manage height so you could have a tree that supposed to be 30 feet tall and keep it at 6 feet tall with pruning throughout the year not just once a year. but typically this tree probably get around 10 to 15 feet tall if you do not prune it.

    • @ludanhuang
      @ludanhuang 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZaatarGardens Really appreciate your reply! Glad to know it can be kept healthily at 6 ft with pruning all year around. I will look into how to prune it properly :) Thank you!

      @@ZaatarGardens thank you! I had read from the other comments you purchased from a nursery. Do you know how old the tree was when you purchased? It seems like 4 years is rather long to bear fruit? I am very excited to try parfianka, but I don't know if I can wait 4 years:(

    • @ZaatarGardens
      @ZaatarGardens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The trees are usually 1 to 2 years old, it is not planted in the most optimal place for the amount of sunlight it gets and also I believe two years ago I discovered I didn’t remove the variety tag from the base of the tree and it surely stunted it’s growth
