Hey man, thanks so much for your reviews.
I was in between the capita mercury (which you say shadowban compares to the 2024 mercury model on that review) the bataleon thunderstorm.
Last weekend I had the chance to try the bataleon and the shadowban, ufortunately the mercury sizes were a bit too big for me so I didn't try it.
Honestly I liked the thunderstorm but I tested it with some supper stiff bindings (bataleon etna) and in 148 (i'm 163cm) and the overall experience was, nice but not amazing. The binds were to stiff for all mountain imo.
Then I tried the shadowban with RIDE AL-6 (yep i have small feet 24.5 to be more precise) and have Ride Cadence boots for my super small man feet. I rode it in 151 and boy did I love this board. I had exactly the same feeling you describe, I wanted that board to be under my feet.
It's incredibly manouverable and playful whilst being the right amount of stiff and damp. It just slashed through everything, popped amazingly on sidekicks and mogels on slope, and when you lay a carv, it just stays there despite the icy and variable snow. Hopefully it also holds on some powder days as the few bits of pow i touched wheren't even deep enough to say I rode it in pow.
I'd recommend this board 100% to any advanced rider that just wants to ride it all on the resort because this board is an absolute bang for the buck, plus having a quite minimalistic and killer design.
Thanks again because I wouldn't have looked into it since there are almost no shops with this board close to where I live in switzerland (but fortunately there was aone to test in saas-fee).
Ordered one online the same night and am looking forward to ride it all winter.
If I may, you suggest Ride C-6 for this. I still have my old RIDE FAME from 2015 aluminium bindings (before they add this numbers on the lines), that I enjoy quite a lot, but If I have to buy new ones with what would they compare to nowadays and that would pair nicely with the shadowban and ride cadence?

I'm a rad dad (50) on the 158, 6ft (85kg). Done 20 days on this board around Tahoe mountains. Heavenly, Northstar and Mt Rose. So a mix of snow and terrain. This is a fun board, great to whip around trees, carve and cruise the groomers. Rides switch well, pops, easy to get air and forgiving on the landing. I even took it in the park a few days just to embarress my 17yr old. Only con, some days l like to ride hard and just bomb! I did find some chatter at speed and coming off a longer stiffer Rome. l did feel uneasy at speed laying down big carves. That said, unless your got 30 years under your belt and like to be a mence on the slops you maynot even notice - so take this as your intermediate/advanced one board all mountain solution.

Picked up the 57 for this season and I'm so stoked. It'll be my first true all mountain freestyle board after forcing my small quiver of all mountain/freeride boards to do everything over the years. Fun but turns your legs to jelly after a while. I'm hoping my Katanas or NOW Pilots are a good match (this was also my year to upgrade boots and the best fit I found ended up being damn expensive.)

@@himboslice_ Interesting. For the Hanger 3.0? I haven't tried getting my new Thraxis in the Pilot with the Hanger 2.0 yet but it might be an issue since the heel cup is slightly narrower. Also, on paper it says the Select Pros are dedicated Freestyle/Park, where the Pilots are All Mtn Freestyle, which is more my style, especially since Avran deems the Shadowban a competent carver. Not too worried though-- the Katanas have been great at everything so far. Then again, the skate tech does make carving a pretty cool experience .

Just a quick update in case anyone is still looking for Shadowban reviews. I've had four full days on it so far, paired with Katanas. I'm pretty honest about new boards I get-- if I don't like it, or am so-so on it, I'll say so and sell it. In the case of the Shadowban, I don't know the material science or engineering or any of that stuff. I bought it to work into my quiver when I need a chill riding day here and there, and to give my legs a break from my all-mountain/freeride boards. But I've had such a blast on this thing, and every time I switched to my other boards, I just wanted to switch back to it. I tried to find something it's not good at-- speed? Well, it's stable AF. Chopped up groomer ice chunder? It's actually as damp as some of my freeride boards. Well it clearly butters well since it leans towards freestyle, so it must not carve well? Friends, it carves like a motherfucker. No joke. It also sticks landings like a specialist. I don't know how that's possible since it's also playful-- you can spring ollie/nollie 180s all day with a relaxed effort, but honest to god you can also straight-line it safely, and it somehow still holds an edge that'll spring you out like it was made for it. Yes it's only been four days, but as of right now, I think this is the closest thing to all mountain perfection I've ever ridden.

Love your reviews so far. Any suggestion for a new all-round deck choice between the Shadowban, ride Zero and Bataleon Goliath 2022? Local conditions (EU) recently haven't presented as many pow days but I still would like to have an option for those. Current ability is an overall intermediate and I'd like to get more into freestyle.

This one interests me, but I’ve seen mixed things about the profile including one review where the rider said he couldn’t see the camber and would consider it almost rocker. I like the flex and response of the Disruptor and the playfulness of the Artifact. For my next board, I want something that can go fast and carve hard but still do a park lap here and there. I am afraid the Shadowban will be too soft based on sites like Evo, and The-House rating flex at 2/10 (is it really that soft?). I am 5' 9" 165lbs. What do you recommend? Every website usually has a technical diagram of the core components as well as the camber profile. Those two are super telling for what the boards purpose is as well as how it will ride. This will break down the carbon layup, core additives, etc. Now comparing Mercury to this there's some definitely overlap the big difference is in the core construction and camber profile. The ride has more carbon overall and has a longer camber profile so it will get more pop.

    G'day Angry,
After having a blast on the Yes Typo (and spraying skiers, as you suggested), I'm wondering if the Shadowban is worth buying. I'm 5'10", size 11 US boot, 176 lb. I have the Typo 161, which I picked partly for waist width (254mm), and as you've said in various other comments/replies, a longer board to bomb a bit more (as opposed to playing around a bit more). However, I found that whilst carving I was booting-out when getting too horizontal and realised I probably should have picked a wide version of the board. Overall, I'm more in the rad Dad category, hitting the big 40 next year, keen on speed, carving, jumps, but not much into park.
Do you think a Shadowban will be much of an upgrade/worth the purchase, and if so which size/width Shadowban would you recommend? (the Ride website indicates the 155W has waist width 258mm, 160W has 264mm)

Rad dad here coming from Custom camber and looking for a notch more forgiving ride and easier turn initiation in slower speeds. My ideal board would be something like more precise Assassin with better edge hold for ice coast and better carvability without sacrifying too much of playfulness.
Having a good deal from Mountain Twin and Shadowban and thinking which one should I choose to fill the hole in my soul?

Mountain Twins going to be softer and have some added grip underfoot.

Do you make these reviews right after you ride the board/bindings? Or do you ride a bunch of stuff and then sit down and review it all..? And do you have to return the product? Do you have an option to buy it..? Just curious how it works.

Hi angry . Thanks for the review. Super helpful.
I ride in northern Italy, often hard icy snow unfortunately. No park. Only groomers and piste. Pow when we’re lucky.
Advanced level. Like to charge and carve with speed. Not so much jibbing. Switch 10%.
    I’m 5’6” tall, 155 lbs, 8,5 boot size.
Can’t decide amongst Shadowban, Algorythm, yes standard uninc and aviator 2.0.
Any suggestions? Also the board size please.
    Thanks a lot.

What an awesome board. Well stable at speed, holds edge perfectly and super fun for carving. Very good performance on ice as well. I tried it with the recommended setup 3/4” back. Next time I’ll try to set it as a twin moving the bindings forward.
Most important thing: this board does not kill your Legs at the end of the day, as you correctly pointed out

This one caught my eye. I need a new quiver of one for this year.
I'm only concerned if its too much of a step up from where I am at. Im not afraid to eat shit for a day or two to rise to the challenge.
Colorado. Progressing beginner/Intermediate resort rider with 25-30 full days of riding.
I categorize myself as such, Although I carve better than about 75% of the Riders and 99.9% of the fat skiers I witness. But I get my doors blown off enough to know I'm not a pro. I picked it up quickly, and get some decent speed, but my wet orange pool noodle of a board takes a lot of care and finesse to track a pencil thin line, and tends to wash out when pushed even a little bit hard. It bucks and rattles my knees to the point of exhaustion in rutted out lumpy terrain. At speed, Its nose and tail flap like a wounded seagull. And it generally feels like it distorts and deforms in a sub-optimal manner under foot when carving semi-aggressively.
(Salomon Pulse, per your suggestion, which was exactly what I needed at that time, thank you). Just out grew it in the carving department by day 10 or 15. And after a season and a half its disintegrating on me. Which Im happy for.
I definitely lean All Mountain/Freeride. Primarily carve all the Groomers, Steep wide open blues and single diamonds are where I spend 80% of my time. Trees on occasion, maybe 10% of the time, but nothing real tight or steep. Unless its in search of more fresh Pow. Moguls only when I have too. I mess around with basic butters on occasion. Mostly just to 180. I have almost Zero desire to send a jump over about 25ft, Im learning in my 30s and don't want to fucking die. And I don't really have any desire to Jib, nothing against the park I just want to keep my face away from steel rails. I pretty much just take the lift to the highest point above the trees and ride at a good pace to the bottom on one edge or the other, send a few rollers and side hits, and repeat.
I realize this is probably "too much" board, but I don't simply want an incremental step, I need a substantially better carving board than what I have been riding. But without sacrificing the ability to relax and drop my A-game here and there. I like a lot of pop and would also like to keep some of that torsional flex/ankle steer ability for when I just want to cruise back to the parking lot after taking a beating all day.
Will this board work for me? Should I buy literally anything else? Gnu Gremlin? The Passport?
    What Size? 160W?
    6'0" 225Lb
Size 11.5 thicc as fuck boots (Vans Hi Std Pro). And would my K2 Formulas make a good match? It seems like they would.
    Thanks in advance.

    Great video!
I am torn between a Shadowban 155W and a 157. I am 6’1’ (185 cm) and 86 kg (190 lbs) riding with Ride Lasso size 11 (44.5 EU) which are 29 cm MONDO. I will mostly ride small to medium parks and maybe a few backcountry days a year. Do you reckon the 157 will be to narrow? I think it is 26.5 cm wide at the inserts. Thanks!

Weird Angry, I used to board a lot but haven't for 10 years. Got back into it and looking to replace my over a decade old board. Tried the K2 manifest 159 and shadowban 157 for half a day each - I found the K2 better when pushed on hard turns, was more stable at speed, had more pop off small hits and more fun to mess around on flat stuff (neither put in park and no powder). Is this the size? Or me being just crapper than you? Or are these generation of boards all pretty equal and either you need to be a pro reviewer to find a difference beyond rider differences of height weight etc? I'm looking for a quiver killer btw as only likely to get a few weeks next year. 😢
