Looked at the title for this video, downloaded the app before watching the video. If it’s good enough for Our Abbie, it’s good enough for me 😃😃😃. Great video as well
thank you so much for your effort to explain this app very helpful wanna do the Camino de frances sometime this days have to get away from the every day ratrace
Hi Abbie . Well the hiiker app looks great , thanks for sharing , I hate the idea of getting lost, my anxiety levels hit the roof. I intend on walking the Cumbria way next week over the course of a week. My fitness levels are not good, I am very over weight but do believe I can walk 10 miles plus a day if broken up between rests. I have to push myself to make a change. Thanks again Paul.
Thanks Abbie great video as ever 👍❤️will give this a try. Often seems to be said that SW coast Path is longest trail in U.K. but Wales Coast Path trail is considerably longer at just under 900 miles but somehow doesn't seem to get the same recognition! I can highly recommend it and will get this app for the remainder 150 miles of the trail I've left to do.
I had no idea Hiiker was brand new. I downloaded it to help me plan the Tour du Mont Blanc. What I was not expecting was that the TMB map was available offline (I didn't buy it) and it was extremely helpful while I was on the trail.
Funny but yesterday I noticed your entry for Rob Roy Way in Hiiker app when I was adding mine. :) I like the app a lot, especially the simplicity and lack unnecessary bells and whistles. The only thing I'd improve is remembering by app chosen filters.
Been using ifootpath for a good while, then they sold out to a huge App maker and lost it's personal feeling.. glad you've liked this..looks just right :) x
Hi Abbie I will look at this app but tbh I’ve used two of your videos to plan the west highland way and the ridgeway which I’m currently doing, so maybe I just need to use your videos to plan my long distance walks.
Cheers for have just downloaded this. How have you found the RRW, a bit to much road walking for me. Knees were aching after I finished. Keep on plodding all the best from Dundee, Scotland
Hi Abbie, thank you for making this video about the app. With your other video's you have inspired me to start walking. I live in the Netherlands and so I started a long distance walking path called Zuiderzeepad. I walk a few stages every sunday and I love it so far. After this video I downloaded the app and I am now using it for my walking and it's really helpful!
Oh my sub to view ranger is nearly up and this looks really good. Great review, thank you. I will have a play with the free version and see how I get on.
Thanks for the recommendation Abbie. Really good app. The only thing I think they could do with improving is letting you change the amount of days needed for the hike as different people have different levels of experience, fitness and ability. Its a pity you haven't been given some sort of affiliate link from the makers of this app as you've definitely driven a lot of traffic their way with this video.
Why does this app say 'Either you are not allowed to bring (it means take) your dog on the 'whatevever trail' or it is generally not advised' on every trail? In over 50 years of hiking I have never found a UK trail where you cannot take your dog.
Super video, thanks. Keep them coming. Downloaded the app and will check it out. Like the clean look and feel. I find really difficult to find the good hiking app. Tried many, many out there but they are either complicated, messy or lack features. Does it work offline and show you the way if you are not on 4G - like Guthook?
Hey Duca! Paul here from Hiiker. With the Annual Subscription (£14.49), it gives you access to offline maps for every trail. Everything on the app works without a connection then. The annual subscription gives you unlimited access to every trail on the app and access to our subscriber-only trails.
Great video, thanks for the heads up on this great app that I will definitely be using from now, at first I thought why , coz of all trails, but as you showed it has a few different features and it's own app in a different way. So thank you abbie for recommending it :)
@@AbbieBarnesWILD I did the part where you walk around the cuillins and it's incredible, I'd say it's just as good as the west highland way and it's not as busy
I dont know if it's just my coat or everyone's does it but when it rains hard my body stays completely dry but my arms where dont have no clothing around the skin feels like it's getting wet idk if its condensation or my coat on the arms isn't very waterproof does anyone know? When this happens I am sweating at the time, the coat is also new
You know you're no longer part of the young generation when you ask for the umpteenth time "what's an app?". Nieces and nephews have tried to explain the things but it's like it go through my head and out the other side on skis ...

I'm loving this, it's going to be perfect for a week in the Lakes staying in various campsites and the odd wild camp. Superb explanation. Thank you.
Thank you !!! So, I downloaded it yesterday … it works here in Midwest USA… fantastic
Hiiker app is brilliant so simple to use and very user friendly
Thank you for a great video, I work as a tourist guide in Iceland and are goong to learn more about this app. Best regards. Hermann
Would I be allowed to wild camp in Iceland?
@@markwilson4652 Yes all over Iceland yoy are ok to camp out in the nature. If near to ta farm then you just have to ask the farmer if all is ok.

I've been using ViewRanger but found it a bit awkward tbh. That app looks much easier.
Thanks Abbie, looks fab.

Thanks Abbie I've added the app to my phone. Have you tried/seen "Viewranger"?

Thanks Abbie for the information. I might check out what is available here in Australia.
Knew you'd have the WhatThreeWords location app also. Isn't that such a great idea.
Excellent review Abbie...thanks 👍
Looks very good will buy this in the new year, loads of information on this app, cheers Abbie 🥾⛰👍

Great video Abbie! This will be great for planning the Pennine Way 👍🏼 thank you so much for this fantastic review 😁
OS Maps / locate app; cant beat it especially when used in conjunction with a paper map. And now what 3 words, also a very good tool.
Hi Abbie, do you have to physically press anything to "start the route" ? How does it know you've started? Thanks x
Thanks Abbie this is supper helpfull, thanks very much great help.
That was fantastic, thanks!

The only long distance path that I miss in this app is the Pieterpad, its from the north to the south of the Netherlands.
Just downloaded app.. great idea!
Amazing got it after your review thanks
Thanks for this... going download now and have a play with the app at home... be great to use to plan the West Highland Way for next April 👍
what a great bit of kit to have ,, no getting lost, yay
Oh my sub to view ranger is nearly up and this looks really good. Great review, thank you. I will have a play with the free version and see how I get on.
I use Garmin Basecamp on my PC and Orux on my phone (it takes TalkyToaster maps which are basically OSM plus Nasa topography).
Brill review Abbie. Looks really good.👍
Excellent review. This App looks very interesting. I shall have to investigate further. Many thanks.
Really helpful video Abbie, Thanks!! I’ve just downloaded the app hope it will help me plan my trips for the future 😁
Omg I’m so gassed (overexcited) about this app, been on it now for the last 20mins. I suppose I better finish watching ya video lol.
It was so easy to create routes on my iPad but cant get them on the account my phone.

Can you use this app when you go walking up the three peaks in the Lake District

Abbie, with your knowledge of camping and hiking , I think you would be a great speaker at the NEC camping event .
NEC? :)
Sorry it's a show venue in Birmingham, the largest camping show is being held there this month
Great Overview
Thank you so much.
thanksfor that just downloaded it
Hi Abbie, any plans to do pedders way ?
Does anyone know if you can get "hiker" for France?
Great little application
is there any way to create your own routes on this?
Abbie have you ever thought on walking the skye trail? Its 80 miles
Ive thought about most trails tbh! Working on ticking as many off as possible :)

Condensation
@@sorryofficer1 is there anything I can do to make it stop?
@@matthewboothman129 I just wear a layer of clothing underneath, natural fibres preferably. It's worse if bare skin is in contact with the jacket.

Is this app good for the U.S., Canada?
Yup!
I use ifootpath but that looks good

It's a computer program that runs on a phonr or tablet.
Being older gen. I hate the word (?)
It's a program! A PROGRAM
