Hiiker kindly let me have a month's free subscription to try it out. However for someone who just wants an OS map to check my location, maybe with the gpx showing too, I find Hiiker a bit over engineered and expensive for my needs. The app seems to be aimed at newbies who want to follow a line with downloadable gpx routes. A third subscription plan for maps only would be a bonus, and the ability to have a gpx route showing without having to record my route would be good. Alas its not the Viewranger replacement I hoped it would be.
I do like the interface however as someone who uses OS Maps for navigation my subscription to Outdoor Active is far cheaper than Hiiker. OA costs £2.23 a month with OS Maps - to get OS Maps in Hiiker it is €12.99 a month. Maybe I am missing something but I am unsure what extra value a Hiiker subscription will add compared to OA??? I really want to subscribe - the donate feature is something I do like. Maybe I should download the free version and test it??
Hey! You can actually get a free trial on our annual pro+ Package, if you wanted to try that? The 12.99 per month gets you access to all premium maps (including harvey maps and others around the world)
Hiiker have just announced they are now ‘free’. See their website for details.
I do more or less the same thing using free software and maps. I'd consider purchasing this due to its convenient access to OS maps and the like.
still on memory maps and alpine quest
