With my great friend, bandleader, and mentor, the late Milton Hopkins next to BB on that red 335. He took me to meet BB on couple occasions. Two great gents ! We just lost Milton at age 88 in February this year. ( 2022). RIP my friend !

Without a doubt, the best of the Rhythmic Guitars, that the BB KING Band had. They were all good in their style but Milton's style is very interesting, I learned with this video, and today I play Blues and Soul in his style... RIP

I feel my life has been touched just to be able to do that and I will have the I told him I loved him that he made me a better musician and gave me countless hours of joy. He was amazing when he was younger. I wasn’t fortunate enough to catch him then.I saw him when he was older.
There’s a clip that’s never going to see the light of day. Around 1963 maybe.
He was playing in a more informal concert & in the line up backing him was a young Jimmy Hendrix. last guy on the right.
He introduced them all very politely & then said
“Oh yeh & that’s just Jimmy Hendrix” (Not his brightest moment)
Hendrix let loose & BB did not play one more note after that.
    That concert ended early.
He denied the whole thing. But the clips out there someplace.

@@josbruls Hi, yes I did! I went for a Maybach capitol 59 cherry, I custom ordered it with a side mount jack. I had tried a Freddie King model that had fretnibs and a stereo varitone plus a slim neck. I took a chance on the Maybach because of no fretnibs and custom option, which would have been way too expensive with Gibson. The Maybach was delayed 5 times, so I went for an off the shelf model from Thomann. The Capitol has BIG neck, almost 44mm. wide, medium to vintage frets, I would have liked them bigger. I think the BB model also has a big neck if I remember correctly. So getting used to the neck takes a little time. But the tone is there, big bright with good sustain. Maybach cut corners on pots, pickguard and tuners, but the rest is fine, and is has a nice light relic job. So I will play this guitar some more and eventually make a TH-cam video on it ;-)

I think it's an instrumental version of 'I believe to my soul.' If you watch the version from the Africa Concert it sounds very similar.
