i would love to owe a few of these to make a custom lightbar but for the price the 79$ octo beacon by STLs works just fine but this looks way better. At the end of the day STL works and has a rotating mode and i can buy 3 for the price of 1 of these
I couldn't agree more. The price Federal Signal established for this light is definitely too high. They'll tell you it's to recover their R&D and manufacturing costs but, IMHO, it's because they know they have a really good product people will want and they're going to ride it all the way to the bank. As good as the SLR system is, cost is why you don't see a lot of them out there because they're just too damn expensive. We'll see what happens with secondary sales when trade-ins hit the market.
@Mike Hawk, I was just going to say the same thing! After seeing this light advertised I was curious how much it cost so I looked it up and my god is it ever expensive! I was interested but definitely won't be buying one now because the price is insanely high. This thing needs to be at least 50% less than Federal Signal is charging for it because this is just plain ridiculous.
@@bryceslife768 $437 via Sirennet... and that's just for a basic SLR dash light! This is why most people elect to just buy an old style halogen rotating dash light or similar style light. I'd love to have an SLR but my God, you can literally buy a good used full-size light bar for the cost of just one of these things! Bear in mind it's not the fault of Sirennet. In fact, their prices are are actually quite good, but rather, Federal Signal. They are loud & proud of their SLR series lights, and as such, this is why most regular users like us will never be able to afford one because the manufacturer priced them WAY out of reach of the regular emergency worker. It's a shame but money seems to be more important.
Us too, but it's only available in a permanent mount model. We do have two alternatives that you might consider. Both are magnetic w/ 12volt plug-in. Whelen R316: sirennet.com/whelen-rota-beamtm-r316-series-12vdc-super-led-beacon.html ECCO Roto LED Series. Federal Signal is finally trying to be more innovative. As well as compete with Whelen on pricing. There for a while Federal Signal really wasnt that popular and Whelen was stomping their arse IMO.. They are coming around though. Our Fire Chief at the dept. I work at just got a new f150 decked out in 100% Federal Signal products and it really looks great.
Really just depends when one comes through. We plan on presenting a new Federal Signal demo vehicle in the coming months. High chance they'll be a Vision SLR with it... fingers crossed:)
Hello from Belgium, this product is it available : - Blue LED with blue dome, magnetic mount ? - Blue LED with clear dome, magnetic lens ? - Bicolor : blue / amber, clear dome, magnetic mount ? It is for the Belgium market.
Greetings Marc. Presently Federal Signals only offering their SLR Beacons in Amber and Red models. They require a permanent mount; sadly none come with a magnetic or vacuum base. Thanks for checking & watching :)
NYPD uses SLR lightbars and I see them in bright day light and at night. You don't need a brighter light than this. The colors are rich and punch through the sun and at night they're bright enough for legally blind to see. Brighter lights becomes a road hazard to drivers.
In direct sunlight on an interstate with no shading from NYC buildings they are not bright at all. The coloring is very rich like another stated but is washed out completely in bright sunlight. Definitely not worth the cost.
I wish this was more of a retro police dash light like the 1970s. That would be cool !
It's hard to beat a rotating reflector style light imo

Hello, Sirennet. Any thoughts on how this SLR beacon compares to the ECCO 7660 RotoLED?

It would be cool to see this next to a normal led beacon
WAY too expensive for what it is.

Interesting light!
Yes it is... not that anyone can afford it.
Put one on each end of a light bar in red and blue for an update to the old gumballs.
That'd be sharp!
Are these units available in blue for the European customers?
These are offered in Blue, but not a Blue that's certified ECE R65 or R10.
Does it come in either magnetic mount or suction? Kind regards Alex Allen.
Right now they're only offered as a permanent mount.
Is there a detailed spec on what you guys have on your Sirennet Demo vehicle?
Check it out :) th-cam.com/video/IvfxyORaH2I/w-d-xo.html

Does it come in magnet mount?
Presently they're only offered as a permanent mount.
