When I was a very little kid my aunt had the basic model A. Yellow wooden spokes, two doors, rumble seat, Black paint of course and an apple box for my brother to sit on so he could see out the windows. She traded it in on a two door 1949 Ford Custom in seafood green - the 49 was later my drive.
Hei, Paul, enjoying your TH-cam footage all the way from Funchal Madeira where we are spending days of vacation.
But next year we will meet you in the USA 🇺🇸 on one of the MAFCA meetings, and that is a firm promise. Regards from the Jacobs 😂🎉
That would be AWESOME, Myron!
Being a Boomer of girth, that car, if I won would be the incentive I need for slimming down. I need to buy more tix. ~ Miles
Hahahaa! Plenty of room in Betsy
😊😊 there was a time ⌚ 😊 at factorys and shops where the people and mechanics wore the shop work coats 😊🎉 OMG 9 21 2O24
Yep! That's true
Is that lacquer paint on the car, the way it chipped makes me wonder? Also if the Tuxaway rumble seat top was completely removed what kind of damage would that leave to the rumble seat compartment.
What a great machine! Thanks for showing it to us, Paul!
Thanks Jeffery!! Betsy is sweeeeeeeeeet!
Great car, I’m envious. Perhaps one of my tickets will win. I hope the raffle generates enough to meet their needs.
The sweepstakes is helping a LOT!
It was known as a Cabrolet NOT a Sport Coupe.
Wrong.
Sport coupes had the Landau irons on the sides like a cabriolet, but the top would not lay down like a cabriolet. Also sport coupes had a visor over the windshield but the cabriolet did not
I own a 50B sport coupe, and I have been inside this car. I can assure you it is a sport coupe.
That's an awesome car!
Hi Paul nice to see you again at the museum we met last year unique place !
Thanks Jose!
Thanks for the tour, Pual. If I win, I will give it to you, Paul. I have no place to put it.
DEAL!!
Such a beautiful car. It would be great to win 🏆 look's like fun to drive.
It drives PERFECT!!!
The bonnet must have been repainted at some point since it has a different shade of yellow.
I'm guessing the single stage is fading differently on the hood due to engine heat. I've seen that on several older restorations.
I love Betsy, she’s absolutely gorgeous ❤️
Yep!
That opening made me laugh Paul. I hope I can own one of these someday. I ever do Paul, I'll be in touch, but I think I'm gonna have to wait my time.
You can do it, man! Maybe you can win Betsy??
Beautiful Car Paul !!
I think so too!
Nice car !! Thanks
Glad you like it Jim!
I entered the sweepstake but didn’t see any pictures or mention about the under side of this car. Please tell us what it looks like under there!
It's pretty nice, just hasn't been cleaned in a while. I did the best I could. Difficult to show underneath without a lift.
Never seen a rumble seat A with a convertible top!
It's ultra rare
Great video Paul and Tina That is a very nice car 😊😊😊😊😊😊
It sure is!
Betsy should be won by someone who's not going to turn her into a hot rod. Let her be what she was designed to be.
Betsy is PERFECT just as it is! I would just love on it
Great video, beautiful car! Where did you get your shirt? I too am the warranty
There's a link in the video description. Thank you!
I bought my ticket, I can't wait to take it home😊.
Hope you win it!
WOW! What a little jewel. I have to see how to enter.
Right on the MAFFI.org website. Click the picture of Betsy
So awesome, Paul Mammal!!! I am glad you and Tina got to drive Betsy. How many miles are on Betsy?
Hey Bob!!! Thanks, raptor. Betsy has around 15K miles on the odometer, but that is likely wrong.
Hey Bob.... Will we ever see you again?
@@ModelA I am much more active on Facebook these days. Although museum visits are maybe a thing for future
@@bobtheraptorjoe577 Dang. I don't do the Facespace stuff. I will ask Tina mammal to show me.
I like them lab coats.
If you're chilly, they warm you right up in the Michigan humidity
Mr. Paul, great video as always. Really like that Sports Coupe! Please help, what would be the codes for that yellow paint job? My ‘31 Cabriolet is that color and wanting to do an update paint job. Mine, ‘The Canary’ was last done in ‘64. I just received the ‘Paint & Finish Guide’, 4th Edition, that yellow color isn’t in there. I am purchasing a chance for that ‘30 Sports Coupe! It would be a nice companion with my ‘31 Cabriolet 🎉 Appreciate the assistance in getting that match up. Cheers
I don't know the codes. But let me research that when I get home
@@ModelA Thank you ever so much!
I can't find the codes. The judging standards says the car is supposed to be "Bronson Yellow" and the brown is called "Seal Brown". However, Betsy was painted close to 50 years ago and is faded out quite a bit. The yellow looks more like "Medium Cream". The new paint guide available from MAFCA doesn't have anything resembling codes. However, the old Ditzler book has a code, not sure if it will cross reference to anything today, but here goes-
Medium Cream- #125
DAL: 6=62 - 50=68 - 10=138 - 46=1106
Bronson Yellow- #545
DAL: 50=40 - 10=246 - 6=482 - 46=1112
Seal Brown- #118
DAL: 55=6 - 4=22 - 6=88 - 48=164 - 27=396 - 2=1058
@@ModelA Mr. Paul, thank you for the research. True, for the Era, Bronson Yellow is the choice. Personally I am not a fan of it. I will take Medium Cream and play with it or I may just take the engine cover to the paint shop to try to match up like you did for the cat scratch repaint job. The family and I are so use to the “now yellow” it just would be tough to go with the Bronson. I know when my Dad purchased the Cabriolet and then repainted it, it wasn’t the Bronson color.
I took the gas tank out and had it cleaned out by Mr. Terry in Tennessee. I am thinking about going ahead and pulling the body off to really clean her up; maybe add a Mitchell Overdrive; turn signals, etc. While the body is off painting it and back together. Would like to drive it before I checkout of this realm. Drove this car when I was 16, now fix’n to turn 74 🥳
Thank you for your assistance and any suggestions is ALWAYS welcomed. I, my son in law, & grandson throughly enjoy your tutorial videos (Model T’ also) I got one of those T’s too, 1913 or it’s a 1915 according to the engine serial number.🤣 (apologies for the long winding response)
Betsy is beautiful! Best of luck to everyone!
That thing is gorgeous
What a beautiful car!
Does someone still make the top for the rumble seat today? So cool!❤😊
It's called the Tuxaway, an era accessory made by B.T.C. I've never seen any reproductions.
@@ModelARickLasCruces Thank you! I'm from Albuquerque original. I live in Glendale, Arizona now. Looking for a Model A. I'm learning more and more every day about the A's. So nice because they're easy to work on and the parts are all available. With the many clubs and reading materials available. It would be the idéal automobile to keep on the road. Once again, Thank you!
Nope. Very rare item!!
@@ModelA Are there drawings available? I think I have someone that can produce them if people would be interested. If someone has a pattern that could work too. The only I've ever seen. Really neat.
Great car and fundraiser
YES!
Great model A Paul
Yep. You're right, Matt. It's sweeeeeeeet!
Betsy is such a beautiful car. It would be nice to own, but for me, living the the country in the mid west and no way to store it properly, I would not want to ruin the beauty of it. Good luck to everyone, and I hope you all have a nice weekend, God Bless you too Paul, Thanks!
Thank you Dan! If you won Betsy, I will gladly store it for you. Just sayin.
Restored in 57, amazing it's current condition is so nice ❤
It really is!
The word unique gets overused, this car truly is because of the combination of its history and condition. I hope to win but am happier that’s it’s still around as a legacy. Thanks for sharing ~ Chuck.
P.S. thank you for your ambassadorship and safe travels home.
Thanks Chuck!
Fantastic car but Tina inquiring minds want to know why you were in jail and did Paul bail you out or decide to play bachelor for a day or two.
It was a quiet two days... HahHaa!
😂😂😂
@@ModelAhi Paul, there's a young lad called Matteo Riordan who just bought his first 1930 Model A. He just recorded a couple of videos with his car. His channel name is Matteo Riordan.
@@evasanz3466 Matteo helped me as my camera guy a few times for some video this last weekend.
Video idea, in seeing the rumble seat enclosure - how about a video on accessories?
I've thought about that. I'm just confused. What accessories do you suggest?
I have some ideas based on my lack of knowledge. Useful accessories, rare accessories, what were they thinking? accessories, A look through a vintage catalog. Seeing that rumble seat accessory sparked my interest.
WOW 😮..... PAUL, THAT'S AWESOME!!! 👌 THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO MY FRIEND!
Glad you enjoyed it Michael!
Tina! Here is part of your song!
So here we are
In the Tijuana Jail
Ain't got no friends
To pay our bail
So here we'll stay
'Cause we can't pay
Just send our mail
To the Tijuana Jail!
So Paul took pity on you and bailed you out. Good for him; bless his heart!
HahHhaaaaaa!! You are a very creative jail guard!
I am so sorry my wife and I cannot meet you today. You inspired me. My wife and I just bought a 1929 model A . Thank you for everything you do. Hope to see you in the future.
That is awesome! So sorry we didn't connect. Next time?
