    I normally don't get tilted but yesterday I was playing 2/3 NL at The Gardens. I lost 3 buy ins within an hour. I lost 6 all ins straight as the favorite. I was getting a lot of really good hands and lost them all in ridiculous ways. I know I didn't make any mistakes, so it helps to hear Jonathan say some of these things. It just seems like the math is not working out like it is supposed to. This keeps consistently happening, I get it in at least a ~70%+ favorite so often and I'm losing at least 50% or more. So I don't know what else I can do and just hope that it eventually turns around.

      I hear ya,seems this is happening to me over the last year or so.Constantly getting outdrawn over and over no matter how good i flop.like im not calling all the way to the end either or spewing off on bluffs,i play solid but the boards are running horribly all the time or morons just call down with gutshots and keep hiting on the river.I think maybe some people are just on the extreme wrong side of the bell curve and no matter what you do you will get screwed

    Your a great man JL for not putting ads in your videos even though I would suggest at least putting an Ad right at the beginning.

    @jonathan little I watched a video called good by jocko the other day. When bad stuff happens find the good in it. If you lose a tourney good more time to study get better and come back stronger...awesome mentality

    JL you just mention the problem I deal with being scared to lose money when the bets get high and tend to make mistakes which causes me to lose a lot by dumping winning hands and calling losing hands. I definitely need to work on that part of my game. Thanks for your great tips appreciate it. Bless 👍.

    Good to hear there are 'pros'who aren't cutting it anymore as the standard of some players is increasing. Not a very 'pro'attitude to fall behind.

    @Norcal Mike - time =22:05. Better answer is, "No!" Quick question - when others make poor decisions, do you yell at them or "beat them up" [figuratively]? If not, why not? I'm guessing it's because you realize that it's not healthy to do so, and doesn't help them to better themselves. If you wouldn't treat someone else like that, why would you treat yourself that way? As someone who is prone to "beating themselves up" this was a very helpful realization for me.

    The more subscribers you have the more people should talk about you, and recommend you by word of mouth, so the closer you get to 100k likes the faster you should get there. Good luck.

    Two things I found have helped me before.
    1) Before playing a hand I ask myself, am I supposed to be playing this hand in this spot ? If yes, I do..
    2) Make no assumptions of other players. I see everyone else on the table as competent enough until proven otherwise.

    Jonathan I am a winning 100nl player at around 10BB/100 but have been getting stomped in live 1/3 lately. It feels like I am not adjusting to the stationy population. Any advice?

    • @VictorRodriguez-hq1mo
      @VictorRodriguez-hq1mo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they're calling stations.. play tighter. 1/3 players are usually loose

    • @PokerCoaching
      @PokerCoaching  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure to take sample size into account. How many hands do you have that is showing you're winning 100nl at 10bb/100. If 50,000 hands, it will take you roughly 1400 hours to get that sample. Variance is much higher live due to typically smaller samples. So step 1, make sure your strategy is beating 100nl over a large sample size... if so, you just need to take your time and make the correct adjustments because typically live 1/3 will be a much softer game.

    I think one reason people are tilting is because they fold a hand they should fold but in the end they would have won the hand if they had played it, then when they play the same hand they end up losing the hand and get tilted... But truth is you should've folded that hand and wouldn't be tilted......example A3o UTG the flop hits them hard with AA3 ....... they think damn I should have played that....then next time they play A3o UTG flop comes down A3J they lose to AJ.....They are tilted!

    Just lost a flopped set of queens to an idiot in the BB that cold called my 3bet (i was in SB) with JTo,he shoved a straight draw all in.This is just constantly happening to me and i know about the math and odds,but theres no way i can be happy when im losing a fortune from making the right moves with the best hand against fishy idiots.I was playing well that session and took down a few pots with bluffs and made a few good folds but its always the one hand that loses me a buy in in almost 80% of sessions.
    Are some people just continually on the wrong side on the bell curve and destined to lose no matter how good you get in it or play?
    I cant get on with the losing is irrelevant,because it is,it is money after all

    I stopped playing poker for about 7 years cause I was building my business and online poker in the US was no more.
    I came back to playing poker during a vacation where I was seeing Black Sabbath in Vegas.
    I played the Aria Daily a few times . I was making deep runs but I was 0 for 7 to start and was questioning my ability.
    I read an article about variance and It started to make a bit more sense to me .
    The very next day I Final Tabled the Aria daily and chopped for 1st place money. I flew back to Tennessee the next day being Friday and I went to Cherokee the following Sunday for the Weekly. I chopped that for 1st place Money. Horray! Back to Back wins.
    Like Math was re invented I cashed 6 of the next 8 tournies . Two being WSOP events and I won another tournament during the World Series chopping again for 1st place money. I had now cashed for 16k in a 2 week period. Im the Best . Not!
    I traveled the circuit cause I was ready to win win win . I went 0 for 16 in the next 16. Again I was questioning my ability.
    THEN!!! My next cash was over a year later when I made another Final Table out of over 1000 players only to be the 1st person to bust with a horrible shove by me in hindsight.
    Poker is a Journey and it has many ups & downs. Enjoy the game !
    Play the games you are bankrolled for or you are going to be miserable.
    Realize there is a massive amount of variance in poker & you will lose often . Its all about the long game.
    Have a good Job and keep having fun at the tables. You are not going to win every time. Get really good at losing and Cherish the wins and the friends you make at the tables.

    Adds are just annoying. I came here to see you, not have my time wasted being shown adds I have no interest in. I can't think of one thing I bought through seeing by being interrupted watching what I wanted to watch.
