compass can be useful, it just takes time to get used to, since it takes a while to activate and you have to stray from the crowd. in maze you can use the compass triangulate the position of the super if youre a nerd i think the best option for maze is to use compass first, and if a mob seems to be close you might want to stray from the crowd to see if it is a super as it doesnt hurt too much but yeah usually it is just random

The compass is affected by magnet so if you or another player has magnet equipped near the compass then it will point towards the magnet
