That's because Leon is the horror in the game, Chris is the action in the game, Jake is the story of the game, and Ada is the puzzle of the game. It's just like the older resident evil but divided up into different campaigns. That's why in RE7 they made it mainly horror
I knew Piers was gonna die when Chris started talking about quitting and giving his position to Piers, I was like “there is no way RE is gonna drop Chris Redfield, he is one of the main guys”
They had actually considered doing just that. I’m glad they didn’t tho. I think Chris still has some mileage left in him, and I definitely didn’t think Piers was a good enough replacement.
I felt really bad for Chris and Piers, Piers' death just adds more pain to Chris, Redfield had to face all these virus outbreaks and watch his men die.

recently released to dlc Not a Hero... in a matter of soundtrack and personality and the temper of Chris. Not a Hero is indeed a continuation of RE6's Chris campaign. especially in the part that his men die, it seems that he remembers the sadness when losing Piers and recalls the hatred that he had of Wesker for killing his friends. That's why he hates Lucas so much.
Not to mention that he’s being made to work with a company he couldn’t trust as far as he could throw. The only reason he is is because the BSAA is convinced Blue Umbrella is genuine. Time will tell if he’s right or not.
Honestly its very surprising how much positive reception Piers received, considering he was the most developed of the new characters compared to Dante-wannabe Jake, and flat cardboard personality with an ass Helena.
Looking back imo, Chris and Piers should’ve been the only scenario in the game. It’s the one with what felt like the most thought about it (even if the writing was a little ass backwards i.e. Chris bring traumatized). It should’ve been a “the horrors of war” theme, plus it felt like RE6 was designed with their scenario in mind

If he survived, but we still didn't see him in another Resident Evil game, I would be OK with that, knowing he was "alive" and okay.

out of all the charaters, Chris and piers is actully my favorate one in this game.
The best yet hardest campaign. It was a nightmare trying to beat it on no hope and I barley survived most huge fights
