This is good introductory video but Group Policies can be very complex, and there is much to know (inheritance, default policies, the whole sysvol thing and how group policies use that, etc.) I suggest you create a grouping a videos like you do for your various Microsoft 365 videos, since one would need more that one to know GPOs. Thanks for all the great videos.
a nice overview/reminder of GPO's, it is worth reiterating that you should test GPO changes on a test OU first, and that if you change the default domain policy (as you mentioned several times) it will apply to everything including to your severs! so take time, test, and be cautious.
Awesome Video! It's been years since I used the GPO Software installer. I tend to deploy PS-Scripts that install the Software and set the settings as intended. I hate MST-Files with a passion. 😁
Word of caution regarding enforcement, if you need it there’s something wrong with your structure or management of people. If you for instance use PAW OU’s you really need to disable inheritance. And never alter default policy, that is bad practice that MS discourage.
Hello, a query, im a mini admin of a very large organization, while joining my domain mss.pok, sometimes on user machines (win 10), it returns error "Network Path Not Found", any idea how do i fix this, even the admin credentials are correct and the device is connected properly to network, it doesnt join the domain. 🎉Love you videos.
Very useful. Thanks for sharing this tutorial.

Andy, you're one in a million love the attention to detail and knowledge that you so kindly share :)
Thanks Andy, very useful to watch over and over again!

Great point🙂👍
My solution is to never change in root, then I avoid a lot of headache.
True, server OU receives its own GPO. End users and endpoints also get their own.

Good stuff, note, Gpupdate / force applies to the current machine not deploying GPO changes to all AD objects.
Thank you, Andy.
As always another excellent video, Andy. Thank you.
Thanks again!
You truly are a blessing.
Very useful for a noob like me. Thanks!!!

You made some very good points 🙂
why does it take several goes sometimes to apply gpupdate?
It shouldn’t take too long.

Sounds like either a script is trying to run or the machine is trying to access a network share that is not accessible,.
nice
How would one make a GPO for restarting computers weekly? With a warning message to users to either accept or delay the restart. Thanks in advanced!
