I just got my tub a month ago. I'm CPO certified and work with commercial in ground pools and hot tubs, but have never had one of these little above ground tubs. Now that we're getting colder and in freezing temps almost every night, I'm noticing this thing is running quite a lot and our power here is expensive. I agree with you. Instead of doing a full blown winterization on it, would it hurt anything to do a "soft close" by lowering the water temperature down to about 50-60 degrees and keeping water balanced while not in use for a few months? Definitely thinking off adding insulation.
Good evening, this really comes down to what hot tub brand you have. Manufacturers are very different when it comes to insulation. Can you provide me this information? Thanks
Thanks for your talk on winterizing. I use my hot tub in the winter but not in the very coldest months of Jan-Feb in the midwest. Was thinking about winterizing for the first time, and looking at my user manual - it doesn't show you how to close the slice valves or loosen the bleed valves or how to drain the plug from the pump(?). I'm just going to do what I have always done and give it a late fall cleaning, refill and leave the water temp at 80 degrees. I prefer to empty my hot tub for July-August - who wants to be in a hot tub when it's 90 degrees + outside ?!
Good morning, believe it or not I use my hot tub all year around. I use it for the benefits of hydro-therapy. My hot tub is covered which helps to keep the temperature down. I have a lot of customers who use it in summer actually but mainly for the benefits of hydro-therapy. However, everyone has a different reason they use their hot tub! Hope this helps!
Ya it interesting how we all use it at different times. My wife loves it in the winter. I simply can’t get into it in winter Becuase of getting out of it. You freeze instantly. I love it in summer time. I turn it down to 85 and just chill out in it with the jets when it’s 105 outside it feels great.
We use our hot tub often but we live in Canada and we leave for 5 months every winter. Would you still suggest not winterizing? I would be afraid the power might go off and then we would have a big problem.
Good afternoon, in my opinion I would try and keep it running. The problem is you could have a problem if the filter gets dirty and the heater shuts off or if there’s mechanical failure. Can you hire someone local to stop by and balance the chemicals, clean the filters etc. This would be best case scenario in my opinion. Hope this helps!
@@13chase2 Good morning, it’s truly best to try and have a neighbor or friend swing by every couple weeks and balance the chemicals. You can also hire you’re dealer to do it if they offer a bi-weekly chemical service. Furthermore, most pool companies will also balance chemicals in hot tubs and should offer this service. Hope this helps!
@@atlantahottubcenter what about the frog@ease system for the 880 series. How reliable is that for maintaining a base line amount of chlorine? I see you did a video on it a year ago.
@@13chase2 Good afternoon, The @ease system works very well but you need to still balance your pH levels. The @ease system like any other chemical system is only effective if the pH is in the ideal range. The link below is the latest update for the @ease system. Good afternoon, me too! I'm always using my hot tub. I probably use my hot tub close to 15 times a week. I use it for recovery, relaxation, and to help me sleep! Hot tubs are a great addition to anyone's lifestyle. Thanks again for watching!
I had a Sundance Altamar from 2001 to 2021. Never winterizing it of course because it is during the cold months that i like it much. But now that Altamar is death, my wife wants a Swim spa. Is the same logic (not to winterizing ) equally apply to a Swim Spa ? PS (sorry for my bad english, i am a frenchman)
Good afternoon, I wouldn't winterize a swim spa or hot tub because you really can't get all the water out of them. They're designed to continue to run all the time 24/7 and the better units are very energy efficient. When you shut them down for long periods of time they tend to have service issues as well. Hope this helps!
@@atlantahottubcenter Thank you very much to have taken the time to respond. Your site and videos capsules are very well done and honest. I learned so much, you sold me to Hydropool with thoses ! Éric from Québec, Montréal, Canada
Good afternoon, yes but make sure to clean your filters and still keep up with your chemicals accordingly. When you say drop the temperature, what's that temperature? Hope this helps!
Thanks for this video. We got a hot tub for the first time a few months ago and was worried about winter. Ours has a 24/7 pump so I figured it would be ok.

How would you keep a hot tub sanitized if you were gone for months at a time?
