Custom made 7-string bass, made by the Japanese maker ESP. Hal-ca's guitar is a Yamaha Pacifica, one of the high-end models, heavily customized. She is a big fan of the Japanese metal band Loudness. They been in the US once, at the SXSW Austin and a few other venues. Sometimes when they do covers they have a guest vocalist.
The Satriani, Steve Vai, Dio, etc. influences are pretty obvious, but lead guitarist HAL-CA credits the Japanese metal band Loudness as her main inspiration to take up guitar. They played a bunch of dates in and around SXSW in Austin in March 2019. I was lucky enough to catch them at their one Los Angeles show before they headed back to Japan. It was at a small club, but that didn't stop them from going 'Full Throttle'. : ) Can confirm that HAL-CA is a force of nature, and also that they are super nice kids.
That bass player is so undeniably talented, I would put him up against any of the best players out there today. The drummer does an awesome job laying the foundation for the other two to go nutz on. Now, Hal-ca, the guitarist, she was born to be a metal guitarist, her moves and facial expressions come naturally to her like breathing to us. She just captures my attention and holds it. I would put her up there with the best guitarists out there today. Thank you for reacting to this video.
Asterism are an instrumental power trio from Fukuoka, Japan. They consist of: Haruka Noma, guitars (“HAL-CA”) Miyu Yoshinaka, bass Mio Yoshinaka, drums They were formed in 2014 when Noma was 11 and the brothers were 12 and 14 respectively. They were all playing at a talent fair for young musicians in their hometown, when one of the music scouts noticed them, had a hunch and suggested they play together. Most of their current youtube catalogue is fan-made live video footage, much of it at the Hard Rock Café in Fukuoka. There are also a few clips from their one tour in the U.S., when they played Austin and Los Angeles. They are all phenomenal talents, but the big draw has been Noma, known by her first name Haruka or by her stage name Hal-Ca. She has been likened to a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan all in one. Even in the Japanese scene, with its overload of extraordinarily technical shredders, she stands out. She also writes most of the band’s music. Miyu is a virtuoso on the bass, plays both 4-string and 7-string, and has his own shred solos in a number of their songs. Best clips to start with are: “Rising Moon” (their first professional MV): th-cam.com/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/w-d-xo.html “Blaze” (Live): th-cam.com/video/51Pxkp8lGAs/w-d-xo.html “Light in the Darkness” (Live): th-cam.com/video/QpxNcZoNjVU/w-d-xo.html “Yunagi” (Studio live): th-cam.com/video/8Kjntjpnn7U/w-d-xo.html “Dawn” (Live): th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html To see Haruka practicing at home, these are fun: “Practice Homework”: th-cam.com/video/_Fm9BBwsihw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/KPqpt7pxCoQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/dPvCGHVc4C0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/JtP_o2bOjvA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/JiOeOw_YzMY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/6AoVTmGZAS0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Jd1dwy36poU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ptTm2KOWt_w/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/jFDssmQnn3Y/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/oRGzOp-wFt4/w-d-xo.html
Great reaction! 🙏🏻 You don't have to wait 10 years to see how the band has evolved, 3 years is enough. Just check out their newer material to see how the songwriting has matured. They are still young but their compositions are more complex yet still dynamic and fun to listen to. "Stars", "Gunfire", "Church"...chose your new addiction.
Nice reaction! But please check out their recently released song! this one is already 3 years ago, they were still about 16.17 years old at the time, and this song does not show 100% of hal-ca’s guitar skills, for the next one I recommend 《dawn》or their recently song《church》👍
Like most Japanese bands, they're even better live. Hal-Ca has an amazing stage presence for her age. Well, scrap that, she has an amazing stage presence, full stop. And she nails their stuff on point every time: th-cam.com/video/QpxNcZoNjVU/w-d-xo.html and as a bonus you get an amazing rhythm section, most other bands would be jealous of. They're just being overshadowed by Hal-Ca.
you have no idea how good that girl really is you should react to the song Asterism Dawn live it should be the first video that pops up on youtube a fan zooms in on her fingers and she does one of the best solos i have ever seen people say she is one of the best guitarists in the world
No they were 10 and 13 when they started to practice and released their first MV when Hal-Ca and Miyo were 13 and Mio was 15 and the rest is history. No comparison to anyone these kids are prodigies and are masters of the craft. Many of us saw them live at SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas back in 2019 and they blew us all away.
As I had the chance to see both D-Drive and Asterism live - I can say that D-Drive is quite entertaining live - esp. with their current bass - Toshi. He is quite goofy on stage - that adds to experience. Even if I find Asterism a little more entertaining, I'd easily recommend both bands :)
Re D-Drive--I love them, but it's a completely different thing. D-Drive are almost a fusion band, while Asterism are hard-core metal. I'm addicted to both.
D_Drive delivers a number of joint performances with Whiskey Dust this autumn, a newly introduced band with a completely different sound than D_Drive - Whiskey Dust's singer Aya is a unique vocalist - as a colleague you should be all ears! The band plays some kind of raw and dirty sounding vintage metal, and they have some gems in their set list imho. And: their guitarist Erika is a die-hard van Halen fan, and she knows to play that axe, too! Try for instance First Take -『 F****in' Down 』Original ( th-cam.com/video/xRNg3Cm4rOg/w-d-xo.html ) or Whiskey Dust 『 偽人 - マネキン - 』(Official Music Video) - ( th-cam.com/video/hABEmCWRdJA/w-d-xo.html )
Actually they started together when Hal-Ca was 11 as a band. They write, compose and arrange all their own fusion of Metal/Hard Rock/Jazz and until recently were an independent band supported by us real music lovers who for the last 4 years have been screaming about this hidden gem on YT to no avail (no vocalist no attention....total BS). Here Hal-Ca was 15 and Miyu was 16 (he is the one that ESP made a custom 7 string bass only for him at 17!!!), Hal-Ca bangs away on that Thrift Shop looking Yamaha/Pacific but it takes the beating and keeps going. Poor Mio on drums has to keep these 2 beasts on track and in check on every song while doing exceptional drum work. Try them LIVE in a small club (due to age and lack of exposure) where you can see the string work by both Hal-Ca and Miyu up close, Dawn (th-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/w-d-xo.html). Hal-Ca has that Hendrix vibe and was born to be a Rock Star. She is already one of the best guitarist in Japan and when you realize who they have that is stunning (Saki, Midori, Miyako, Yuki, Syu and all the rest are well within her sights at this point). Hey for D_Drive try Unkind Rain (th-cam.com/video/m5G3nXJtSzQ/w-d-xo.html) studio version for more of their playing skills.
Nice reaction, as usual. I prefer music with vocals, too, and in my comment on your D_Drive reaction, I suggested to you that you watch some live footage of Asterism when they play with the great rocking belter Maki Oyama - that's pure fun and energy, and a way better show than without vocals. Non official bootleg videos, but the slightly reduced sound quality just adds to the explosiveness of that live perormance - epic. Watch e.g. ASTERISM ×大山まき『IN THE MIRROR 』(LOUDNESS cover)2019/04/20 - ( th-cam.com/video/3thAXV4laAA/w-d-xo.html ).
There are two more videos of Asterism performing with Maki Oyama: 大山まき+ASTERISM 『SPEED』(LOUDNESS cover)2019/08/17 ( th-cam.com/video/DbM3bgnglgI/w-d-xo.html ) and a cover of RATM's "Guerilla Radio" - th-cam.com/video/rvcqzUVgBMM/w-d-xo.html . Enjoy that music, it's outstanding!

that's the most i've ever seen a pacifica get shredded haha, so awesome.

For next reaction to Asterism, you should react to songs Dawn, Gunfire and Church. All the songs play live in studio for better sound quality.

As good as that was....they're evan better now !! 😎🤟
If you really want to see what Miyu can do on his 7 string you need to check out Church. The first minute is all him.
Nice sister, good information

Try 7 string bass
