CTA RPM Final Bridge Segment Install

- We have installed the last of the 1,555 precast concrete bridge segments that form the new Red and Purple line track structure between Lawrence and Bryn Mawr!
Check out our amazing video on how our partners, The Walsh Group and Utility Concrete Products, LLC, made this happen:
• Each bridge segment is 10 feet long and weighs more than 40 tons.
• The segments were manufactured in downstate Morris and trucked to Chicago, one by one.
• Once on site, each piece was lowered into place by our "Windy City Gantry" construction gantry to minimize impacts to the neighborhood.
• We've built 1.3 miles of new bridge, replacing century-old steel elevated track! #CTARPM

Lots of work went into this project but my only regret is that I and my neighbors suffered construction noise at 6am 🕕 in the morning until sometimes 6pm at night. As much money was made you guys should share the wealth and give us a dinner 🥘 or even a pizza 🍕 party at least. Otherwise great job 👏
Ummmmm, no. You all live near a vintage rail line that needed replacing. Unfortunately, that often comes with living next to certain forms of transportation infrastructure that has been around for many decades suffering from underinvestment in it's maintenance division. It needs to be upgraded, and just because you, everyone else who will not live longer to see the next upgrade, being inconvenienced in the short term, does not mean that progress for the foreseeable future for millions should be hindered. You and everyone else will be ok, and can buy your own pizza.....
@ I’m sorry you feel that way and I can purchase my own pizza, however I know that our alder woman will be more sympathetic towards our needs and rather than get a class action lawsuit against the city for mental health issues from the construction , they would rather settle out of court, PERIOD!!!
